Are Loyola players, fans, and announcers over celebrating? Man, that's funny that you mention that. When they beat us Saturday, they acted like they'd won an NCAA game. I thought it was a bit much. But, I guess they haven't won a lot this year, so they celebrate when they can... I saw the last 6 minutes (regulation plus OT) of that game, and I noticed the same thing.

GG an absolute warrior. Would have loved to see the season if we were healthy with Louth. Maybe not a big difference but something to ponder. Hope Batch doesn’t transfer but wouldn’t be surprised. I think Coulibaly would have made a big difference. Not saying the team would have challenged Colgate for the top spot, but a big difference. Almost a guarantee HC would not have been in the 7-10 game. Two of HC's biggest problems this year were not much bench (and core guys being gassed at the end of the game) and no reliable big man. Coulibaly certainly helps out in those two areas

The whole play-in arrangement is a by-product of the expansion to ten teams by adding Loyola and BU to the PL. I liked the symmetry of the Octagonal league. 1. I wouldn't mind going forward if the bottom two teams were told to start their vacation early and it went back to 3 rounds max; considering they can't erase our miracle run 7 years ago. 2. Why wasn't #4 given a flagrant foul for undercutting Joe O? I don't think it was deliberate; perhaps "accidentally on purpose"; but, regardless, a bad play that caused injury. The concept of "player control foul" kept entering my mind. That foul doesn't apply in this situation. Yet the huge defender did not have control of his body (couldn't stop himself) and it slammed into Joe O who looked like he was trying to stay standing on the sideline after a standing eight count, indicating he was knocked out at least briefly. It raised the question of who has responsibility for the body of a 250 pounder moving at full speed on the court? Is it the player or is it the other players' responsibility to know where the other nine players are, and how fast they are moving and protect themselves at all times? The concept of the "helpless receiver" also came to mind. At least in football they give the players pads and helmets.

I wonder what the reaction would be (other than a technical foul) if a player returned with pads and helmet after a hit like that?

Was it really that big of a hit?
Octave was in a vulnerable position and the slightest nudge caused his fall like that to happen. Certainly didn’t seem intentional or malicious.

Since he went down as he did and did not return, i would say yes, it was that big of a hit. Of course, no one would return with pads or helmet so my comment was clearly meant to be facious.

Considering some of the time that's wasted by officials reviewing this or that*; it seemed like they gave this foul a token look or no look at all. *my pet peeve, methinks the NBA's rules are better than college ball.

Intent does not enter into the criteria for either Flagrant 1 or 2. I believe excessive contact is part of the wording. According to a very credible source, on the fall he bit through both his lip and his tongue, as well as being "incredibly" concussed to the point where he has been excused from classes. Happened to see him at the wbb game yesterday where he had his face bandaged up and didn't go anywhere without Rabs or Bo. This leads me to believe that my source was telling the truth. so to answer the question, yes it was really that big of a hit

It was that big of a fall to the ground, as a result of being grazed in midair.
