Next season HC will have some unprecedented depth...and in this game they showed they know how to use it!

I think one of the surprises this season (for me anyway) has been Foreman -she's strong and a good defender as well as a slasher on offense - the type of player we really haven't had - she gets out of control sometimes and commits turnovers but she rebounds and defends - she has definitely taken some of Donnelly's minutes in the 2nd half of the season - our 3 frosh who get minutes all have a lot of upside

Janelle was terrific on the court and in the post game interview. A credit to herself, team and school.

One of the keys tonight, Cross shutting down Henning Didn't she also draw the foul that put their big on the bench in the second half?
Does the work that doesn't make the box score.

Great, loud turnout Must be the hockey and spring sport athletes The two teams bringing the noise tonight were the Men’s Lax team under the East basket and the Men’s Rowing under the West basket. They certainly did their job in letting AU know whose house they were playing in tonight. Admirable job by the Lads in not allowing AU to get away with their usual rough play under the hoops. The Hart Sixth Man came out tonight. Hope they return on Thursday.

The HC team was introduced with the Jimi Hendrix version of Purple Haze as background music. Great way to start the evening and set the mood. Would have been perfect with a Purple Fog Machine or Light Show.

Jen Toland's Recap in today's T & G www.telegram.com/story/sports/college/2023/03/06/allen-paces-holy-cross-women-past-american-to-open-patriot-league-tourney/69975623007/'It was a statement win, and we’re looking to do it again,' HC cruises to open postseason Jennifer Toland Telegram & Gazette WORCESTER — Janelle Allen sat out four games in January while battling mononucleosis, and her Holy Cross teammates missed their junior forward’s inside presence, experience and leadership. Since returning to the lineup Feb. 4, Allen has played solidly, but HC coach Maureen Magarity was waiting for her to have a breakout performance. Magarity saw that Monday night in the No. 2 seed Crusaders’ 73-44 Patriot League Tournament quarterfinal victory over No. 7 American at the Hart Center. Allen scored a game-high 19 points and had seven rebounds as HC (22-8) extended its win streak to four games heading into Thursday’s semifinal. HC’s 22 victories are its most since the 2002-03 team finished 24-8. “Janelle had a great game,” Magarity said. “She was finishing, she was getting to the free throw line and she was being aggressive, but not trying to do too much.” Allen averaged 16.7 points in three games against American this season. The Crusaders and Eagles split their regular-season series, with American taking a 67-65 overtime victory here in mid-February. “This feels great,” Holy Cross junior guard Cara McCormack said. “It was a statement win, and we’re looking to do it again.” HC will host No. 3 Lehigh at 7 p.m. Thursday. American, the defending PL tournament champion, finished its season 9-22. Magarity did not have to remind her players that anything can happen come tournament time. In last year’s PL tournament, HC, the top seed after capturing the regular-season title, lost at the buzzer to No. 8 seed Navy in the quarterfinals. “That was in the subconscious,” Allen said. The teams combined to go 8-26 from the floor in the first quarter and were tied, 10-10, after one, but the Crusaders came out attacking in the second quarter and forced four American turnovers in less than 4 minutes. “Coach told us to be aggressive,” McCormack said. The bench, led by McCormack and freshman Simone Foreman, gave HC a huge boost, and the Crusaders went up, 31-24, at halftime. “Our bench and our depth has helped us over the last couple games,” Magarity said. “We’ve kind of worn some people down later in the season. Against American, we needed that. We knew we had to push the ball and get a lot of people in. I was really pleased with how we played.” Allen scored HC’s first six points of the third quarter, and she and McCormack, who finished with 12 points, keyed a decisive 12-0 run. Allen said she feels great. “It took a little while,” she said, “the process of getting back to running, getting the wind back in you, getting the basketball workouts, but I missed playing with my team and once I started practicing it felt natural.” The Crusaders went 2-2 in the four games Allen missed. In the third, Holy Cross was 7-11 from the field, while the Eagles were 2-12. HC shot 61% for the game and held American to 29%. Junior Bronagh Power-Cassidy added 12 points for Holy Cross and Foreman had 8 points and 5 rebounds. Senior forward Lauren Stack led American with 16 points. Holy Cross went 1-1 against Lehigh in the regular season. The Crusaders won, 66-64, in Bethlehem, Pa., Jan. 11, and fell to the Mountain Hawks, 76-74, in overtime Jan. 25, at the Hart Center. —Contact Jennifer Toland at jennifer.toland@telegram.com. I watched that play several times, Cross really got clobbered. #44 wasn't looking and ran right over her...actually that may have been her 4th foul. So Cross was involved in the 4th & 5th fouls

At some point, the coach has to be held responsible if the same players continue to do the same stupid things over the course of their careers.

Realizing it was over 50 years ago, did if anyone attend a Hendrix concert to hear Jimi perform Purple Haze? If so where?
Brought a smile to me hearing it last night at the game, considering it has been 55 years ago this month that I last saw Hendrix live in concert.
