1) When the Athletic uses your photo, do you get compensated or does Dartmouth own the rights to the photo? 2) "kept him out of the 2018 FCS playoffs" I don't blame the writer for not understanding or remembering that the Ivy FCS tournament policy is a weird outlier. It is that unexpected of a policy because it goes against normal self interest. 3) Wonderful portrait of a remarkable coach. I hope he can resume a role at Dartmouth. I didn't share the article because my photo was in it. I just know you guys have been following Buddy's story all offseason. Dartmouth pays for my services for the day and that photo was taken when Dartmouth beat UNH a few years ago. Thanks for sharing it.

The other photo is from Getty and they only get paid per usage of the images and it is only a cut.

Was chatting at my local gym recently with a fellow golfer, who was Buddy's roommate during senior year. He also mentioned Buddy's incredible fitness for a man his age and his cross-country bicycle trek to visit with recruits. Buddy is looking at 6 months of rehab/PT my friend said. Like so many, I wish him well in his efforts.

This brief update was posted on Dartmouth's home page about 3 weeks ago: (it does appear it's a long recovery process)
July 26, 2023: Kirsten Teevens, the wife of Robert L. Blackman Head Football Coach Eugene F. "Buddy" Teevens '79, has provided another update on his recovery from his bicycle accident to share with the Dartmouth community:
"Buddy and I have moved to Boston where he will continue his rehabilitation closer to family and close friends. Respect for our privacy has aided in creating a healing environment and we are very appreciative. Letters of love and support sent through the Dartmouth Athletics Department have also brightened our days, so thank you."

Good luck to Buddy. He is inspiring. Interesting that the head coaching position at Dartmouth is endowded in honor of a former head coach, Bob Blackman who went 104-37-3 (79-24-2 Ivy) between 1955-70 in Hanover. Refreshing my memory of Bob Blackman and the Dartmouth football dynasty of my youth, the 1955 team was a New England Independent like Holy Cross. IL football competition began in 1956.
In 1955 the Dartmouth Indians played Colgate, Holy Cross and Lafayette plus all of the future IL teams except Penn. The three future Patriot League co-founders all beat Dartmouth that year. Wikipedia notes Harvard and Cornell as rivalry games. Perhaps Cornell because Ithaca and Hanover are rural compared to Philadelphia, New York, New Haven Providence, Cambridge?
The 1955 HC FB team started out 5-0 but finished 6-4. The Crusaders played four "non-majors" that year, Temple, Quantico Marines, Dayton and UConn as well as three who have since dropped football, Marquette, BU and Quantico. The '55ers played Syracuse and BC but overall the 2023 schedule is about as strong.
I hope Buddy can recover as fully as possible. I assume he is receiving care from Spaulding Rehab, the best in class for Rehab in Boston, imo. They got my mother off of oxygen. She had a heart attack in the middle of her stay so they shuttled her over to Mass General. She insisted on going back to Spaulding when she recovered from that, and walked out after rehab without the oxygen caddy she had been dragging around for a year.

The latest update from the Dartmouth site on Sep 7th:
Kirsten Teevens, the wife of Robert L. Blackman Head Football Coach Eugene F. "Buddy" Teevens '79, has provided another update on his recovery from his bicycle accident to share with the Dartmouth community:
"It's difficult to describe the range of emotions we as a family have gone through in the wake of Buddy's accident. As a family, we have decided to periodically update the community. His doctors have advised us it is not prudent or necessary to offer personal medical details, as the process can be unpredictable. Buddy suffered significant injuries and as a result will not be returning to Memorial Field this fall. No one cares more about the Dartmouth Football program than Buddy Teevens. He has expressed his confidence in Coach McCorkle, his staff and most of all, his players. Our family wholeheartedly thanks everyone for the continued support, grace and respect being shown to us during this difficult time."

Finally someone with the sense to spare us the details. I like the way the doctor put it.
