I’ll defer to those that have watched more of Paulsen’s teams in the past, but seems he is known for his motion offense. Any thoughts on what we could expect from a system perspective? Any personnel trends?

Coach Paulsen has some pretty good posts in his Twitter feed (@paulsendave). Scrolling back — Interesting to see his departure note on 3/17/21 from GMU and the overwhelmingly thankful and positive comments in response. Even the GMU board thread dedicated to his departure contains (for the most part) praise for his work and character — just some unhappy with results. I presume HC has been vetting potential candidates for some time — with particular sights on him and others discussed here as able to deliver the new start needed. www.masonhoops.com/threads/goodbye-dave-paulsen.2105/Can he bring Doc Nix with him to Worcester?

Is our most recent portal entry reviewing the many lucrative NIL offers received from the portal or checking out community colleges? I would offer a welcome mat to stay with the team and graduate next Spring. What do others think?

They will add Guam for us if we get close.😊 But actually with the flight saving principle, we would probably go to Providence, which is a great goal to strive for.

. . . see if Crotty can deliver ND transfer Dom Campbell to HC. Not happening.

Very excited about the hire. May take some time but he’s a professional head coach with a lot of experience and a lot of Ws. And seemingly a very solid human. Looking forward to the next few years.

Let’s get Crotty on staff now. Agree, adding Crotty and TT would make this a great staff!

Hopefully he throws out the orange tie in his closet He threw that out when he went to Mason. He wore a green and gold striped tie every game. I don't know what he did last year.

I was thinking the same thing. He may be more helpful to HC in his role with the Magic than he would be on the staff.

Great comments in the interview about playing Ralph Willard Holy Cross teams. "I was playing checkers while he was playing chess"! He added, "I realized how much I still needed to learn." I imagine (and hope) he has been "learning" ever since. The idea that he put three separate types of play into place with his team in one season is impressive to me.

Not sure why you skipped next year. For those interested, Brooklyn is the closest site to HC in 2024. Not quite the home games Providence will be in 2025 but still reasonably convenient for many alums.

We shall see, but he seems about as perfect a fit at HC as the previous coach was not. Agreed. While a lot of us talked about following the "Chesney model" with this hire, I think this has the look of a Willard-esque hire. 1) He's already amassed success in the Patriot League, following a fantastic run at Williams (where he beat HC). 2) "Big time" experience at George Mason, where he was moderately successful. 3) Helped orchestrate a turnaround at Fordham as top assistant, a seemingly impossible place to win.

Surprised that several prominent posters have yet to weigh in ….., One privately skirted around his Lenten vow in a DM. I will let him speak for himself, as my republishing what he said might, in a Talmudic interpretation, be considered as breaking the vow. After speaking to a rabbi, I have concluded that the Talmud antedates emoji, so here goes:

It will be nice to see Coach Dave Paulson on our bench. I saw him many times at the Hart on the Bucknell bench and once on the Williams bench, and it often didn’t work out well for the Crusaders. Very excited about this hire!

"I am thrilled to be named the head basketball coach at Holy Cross," Paulsen said. "I have the greatest respect and admiration for the College, its commitment to excellence academically and athletically, and the Jesuit mission of Cura Personalis. . . ."
Gets it.
