This release does not say NEC Front Row will be discontinued or that ESPN+ will stream all or close to all of NEC basketball games like ESPN+ does for PL and IL games.
NEC Front Row is (was?) a gem in one sense: it's free. ESPN+ costs $9.99/mo and ESPN/ESPNU/ESPN2 require a cable subscription.
I wonder if more Merrimack fans streamed Warrior basketball games this past season than Holy Cross fans streamed Crusader games due to the cost discrepancy? Has choosing a pay option as the only access to Holy Cross games other than attending home games, while discontinuing two free options (local radio and the old PLN) put a ceiling on how much community interest HC can generate?
FB has generated interest with no regular free community viewing/listening access but the leadership and roots in the community of the current HC FB head coach is off the charts and I can't expect DP to match that although he will be a strong improvement over the status quo.
If DP says we need a flagship radio station like the WooSox and Railers have, I hope Kit will go to work to get it done. Maybe with his finger on the pulse of current college basketball, DP doesn't see this as an issue one way or the other. The world is changing.
