The word Easter is derived from the time of celebration of a pagan goddess which occurred around the beginning of the spring season. IMHO Resurrection Sunday would be a more appropriate appellation. Happy Resurrection Sunday.

Google is amazing. Evidently the word Pasqua referring to pasture is a derivative of Pesach the Italian word for Passover. If this is so, it is certainly more acceptable than the pagan derived Easter. Buona Pasqua.

And in England they take a lift to the top floor of a building, your car has a boot. In the roaring 20's the 1890s were Gay meaning pleasing and lively. Dope is a not so smart person or illicit drugs or describes something that is cool - i.e., that song is dope.
What does it matter from where it is derived? What does it mean now? People take words from different contexts and change their meaning all the time.
For us (and most English speaking people) the meaning of Easter is the celebration of the Resurrection of Christ. It is so far removed from an ancient spring goddess and the correlation of Easter to Passover and the timing with respect to the vernal equinox, the word for the celebration made sense to those who started using it and that is what it means now.
If it gets traction, I'll go along just like I do with elevator, trunk, gay, and dope.
The important thing is remembering not what we call it, but what and why we are celebrating and being thankful for all it means to us.
