I'd add RB "JC" as passing the "look test" per multiple primary sources although he wasn't there Saturday. I believe WR Max Warren was in attendance and is also in this category. Of note, both are PGs and a full year older than most HS Seniors. WR is a position where frosh have a better chance to play early (Shorter most recently), but with the development of Q Gregs and Max Mosey, it might be a longer shot this year despite the fact that all 3 incoming receivers could be capable on a lesser FCS team. I had a chance to spend time speaking with Sammy Slade. What a great young man. Told me that he’s ready to step up with the loss of Peter Oliver. Coach Grautski has really got this kid in great shape.

When did Mosey move from QB to WR?

When did Mosey move from QB to WR? Early last season, maybe even before the end of camp. He’s a lefty and his HS QB tape showed him using his legs a ton. Good athlete. Another kid whose body has just transformed in one year with Coach Grautski. Yoked….

Mosey kid looks strong. He will get some play this season. He’s a real athlete.

The reason I asked is that the roster lists him at QB.

Speaking of the roster, the updated one has been posted and curiously it includes only 2 of the 31 freshman (I wasn't necessarily looking to see any of the frosh on the spring roster) goholycross.com/sports/football/roster

Are the two already enrolled and attending classes as of the second semester? That could be the reason for the inclusion now.

Wood and the long snapper from Arkansas were the two xfers that I can recall. For awhile there was a separate roster for just the new players.
Does anyone know if the current freshman from Staten Island,a DE, play in the Spring Game? I thought he played a little at the end of the season.

Osahon Nowura didn’t play in the game. He’s the Frosh from System Island.

Osahon Nowura didn’t play in the game. He’s the Frosh from System Island. Holy Cross version of Michael Vick. If you have not seen him on tape, go take a look. Both Coach Chesney and Coach Kennedy are excited to work with this young man.

my guess is that as midyear xfers their academic standing for graduation timing would be reconsidered after completing a semester.

When you have a real star (AKA FCS mismatch), you tend to know very early. Think Dobbs and Sluka. Want to see a couple of youngsters show what they showed and just as early.

Absolutely HCPRIDE....Ideally that would be in the secondary(particularly safety) and d-line. Those are the position groups that need quality depth

Agree Pride and DLS, the only caveat being many underclassman don’t play on elite teams (especially with the 5th year waiver). I think the story will be more upper classmen that are just finally getting their turn after playing behind very good players in previous years. That and players returning from injury that have flashed when healthy. In no particular order players I’m watching finally getting their turn: Sr. DE BV, Jr. DB Curtis Harris-Lopez, Sr WR Q Gregory. Players returning from injury that hopefully stay healthy: Sr. WR Brian Shipman, Jr. TE Jacob Petersen, Sr. DT Jared Dyer

I’ll also give a shout-out to Sr. OL Christo Kelly (replacing Nick & Jack at Center), but he was on my radar very quickly when I watched him pancake Greenhagen and put Conway on roller skates in his first series as a blocking TE last year in our short yardage formation. Like Eric Schon last season, I think he’s a candidate for All-PL in his first full season as a starter.

Yea Jenkins can spin it 44. I like that we have Frattura who comes in fairly polished and highly touted coupled with Jenkins who likely has great upside with a couple years under Coach DK!

I was just racking my brain on the upper classmen. But to my point after thinking about it more, Ross is likely the only Sophomore penciled in as a starter at this point. You also have Reynolds and Santiago trying to work their way into the DL rotation. On offense, Mosey (as discussed), Slade at RB and OG Metzger are probably the 3 most likely sophomores with a shot to get some run coming out of spring ball.

I think out of pure necessity you'll see 3 to 4 of the true Frosh pressing for Safety snaps. They brought in 7/8 including Wood as a transfer. Stu Smith, Chisom, Comestro, Crocetti, Due - these kids have length and are athletic. Summer can't come fast enough. And also Spinogatti getting shown the ropes from #27!
