This is a great story. Over the years I've found that the Boston Marathon has had many inspiring stories. My favorite is the Hoyts, the father who pushed his disabled son the length of the race for many years. I was lucky enough to run Boston in 2002, and when I saw the Hoyts running in person it was all I could do not to cry. Also, I have an IFIT membership for my treadmill. One of my favorite trainers is Tommy Rivs. He was an accomplished ultramarathoner and came in 16th at Boston in 2018, pretty heady stuff. He then came down with an aggressive form of lung cancer, but this year ran Boston again, in just under 5 hours I believe. Not quite in the same category but when I did Boston I ran for a while next to a platoon of Canadian soldiers in uniform including army boots; they never broke formation or cadence-impressive.
