One of the complaints about the facilities at Fitton is being addressed. (And, no, it does not involve lights or field turf.) Awww, c'mon phreek! Either tell us or don't. Don't play I know something you don't know and send us into a frenzied guessing game. The facility that the Harvard Crimson writer complained so bitterly about. The settlement of the Title IX complaint re: softball facilities will be addressed as well. The team has no locker room (club house). Neither does tennis. The mantra on Mt St. James is that every varsity sport played on campus will have its own dedicated locker room, and every coach will have an office. (IIRC, golf/tennis coaches share offices.) One doesn't need two full-sized locker rooms for HC football, but maybe they will get something new. And I suppose should HC baseball share a locker room (clubhouse) with an outside team that also uses the field.

Is that for certain, CTP? If it is, can a Jumbotron for Fitton be next? I heard at one end, the complication at the other end is the Bud Ryan room. A videoboard for Fitton was looked at. The idea was for a portable one that could be moved to other venues. I don't know where that idea stands. One of the complaints about the facilities at Fitton is being addressed. (And, no, it does not involve lights or field turf.)One of the best things about Fitton Field back in the 60's was the fence was easy to crawl under!

Yes. The home side press box is a museum piece. Disgraceful.

I received my NAD shirt in the mail yesterday. Nice. It's not white, but a light grey that is better. The ink is purple. Cool shirt.

Monday/Sunday games are a bust. Saturday is THE day for college basketball. Sunday is not. Students aren't hungover or studying for an exam/writing a paper due the next day. M+W doubleheaders were always enjoyable.
Losing close games is demoralizing for fans. HC has had a knack for it the last few years, and this season too already.
Two free beers with a student ID would do the trick too!

Need Saturday games. I graduated in '08 and the Saturday afternoon/evening games were well attended in some cases sold out versus Bucknell. Monday night home games, Sunday at 3PM? Could someone please remind me why the PL has such awful scheduling?

Sunday games allow a Saturday bus ride early and a 1pm game Sunday allows a return that night. Better for student athletes. HC can play BU on Wednesday or Saturday.

Although I think the Sunday thing is more about accommodating Patriot League TV, there is a school of thought about putting the players over the fans. I thought noon time next Friday was ridiculous until I hear about someone who liked it so they could catch a Friday night flight and be home for Christmas Eve..

TV exposure even on Sunday is a good thing. How good a thing, I don't know. But it gives academic exposure to HC and the PL. Scheduling at HC was bad under DR and worse now under NP. The two games away and one at a neutral site for UMass and URI is a joke. Playing BU during break is gross negligence. (Why not at AU?) Fire the guy who ran the bobble head give-away at the UMass/DCU game and hire a scheduler for all sports.

I believe the PL, not NP, schedules the PL games. I could be wrong

I believe the PL, not NP, schedules the PL games. I could be wrong I doubt they do it in a vacuum. Our AD has to show some ballz and push them on the issue of scheduling. Bucknell is a long way from us but they have a lot of other reasonably close games as do the others. We play UMass/URI six games. Any takers on 0-6 with no moola to show for it? That was dumb scheduling too.

I'd rather play UMass, URI, PC, BC et. al. than all our PL opponents....

I'd rather play UMass, URI, PC, BC et. al. than all our PL opponents.... We are playing two of those four teams this year, and have played the other two in recent years. Unfortunately, we got to be too good earlier this century and all four teams refused to play us.

Hardly anyone...and I mean hardly anyone, save for NAD and ACTP. is going to see Holy Cross play Colgate at the Hart in January.

The whole thing/thread is ridiculous...why don't people go to Hart anymore? Because we are playing a majority of games against schools there that no one cares about.....that's why.

When HC and visiting PL teams are good (RW era), this doesn't matter; but when the PL isn't good (current era) this indeed is a huge factor, but days of "name" teams coming to the Hart are long gone - so it is what it is.

HC and Bucknell were decent in the Williard/Flannery era...the league as a whole sucked then too. HC will nevah build a fan-base as long as it is in the PL...it is what it is. People in the Greater Wisstah area, alums, students are just not going to get excited about PL basketball....it's just not going to happen, Jumbotron or no Jumbotron.

I realized a long time ago I am wired weirdly when it comes to sports (and maybe its because I am an non alum too), but I don't spend one second of my life worrying about whether or not someone in Williams AZ (or anywhere) has heard of HC. I just want to root for the BEST student athletes HC can get.

Monmouth a legit team. Nobody cares. Towson FB legit team. Nobody cares. Because they have zero brand recognition in the Worcester area, which is far more important when trying to get people to come to games.

I am afraid that, after their success last season, Monmouth may have more of a national brand recognition than any PL team.
I know I posted this in a couple of threads a few years back, but I believe we ned to build a following for HC more than the teams that HC may be playing. The latter may bring in a few more fans, but only to se HC's opponent. I like the marketing of our team and players that HC now does. It reminds me of the billboards I saw for both Albany and Siena in the Albany area, traveling through NY State. Both of them get a pretty good following.
