Like many of you, I have been reading a lot about artificial intelligence and the proliferation of new chat bots that create content in response to questions. I have been experimenting with the Microsoft Bing chat bot, and I asked it to tell me about the College of the Holy Cross. This is what I got back. Pretty basic, but not bad!
The College of the Holy Cross is a private liberal arts institution founded in 1843 by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) in Worcester, Massachusetts. It is the only Jesuit college in the United States that is exclusively for undergraduates. The college offers a rigorous academic program that emphasizes critical thinking, ethical reflection, and global engagement. The college has a student body of about 3,100, a faculty-student ratio of 10:1, and 27 NCAA Division I athletic teams. The college is also part of the Worcester Consortium, which allows students to take courses at other local colleges and universities. The college's motto is "In Hoc Signo Vinces", which means "In this sign you will conquer" and refers to the cross of Christ.
Next, I asked it to tell me about the Holy Cross football team.
The College of the Holy Cross is a private Jesuit liberal arts college in Worcester, Massachusetts, that competes in NCAA Division I sports. The football team, known as the Crusaders, plays in the Patriot League and has a long and rich history of success. The team has won seven national championships, 17 conference titles, and has produced several notable players and coaches, such as Heisman Trophy winner Gordie Lockbaum, NFL Hall of Famer Bill Osmanski, and current Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor. The team plays its home games at Fitton Field, which has a capacity of 23,500 and was renovated in 2018.
Has the Holy Cross football team had recent success?
The Holy Cross Crusaders football team has had a remarkable season this year, winning 12 games and losing only one. They qualified for the FCS playoffs and reached the quarterfinals, where they faced the South Dakota State Jackrabbits. Despite putting up a valiant fight, the Crusaders lost 42-21 to the Jackrabbits, who had a dominant rushing attack and a strong defense. The Crusaders can be proud of their achievements and look forward to building on their success next year.
It really went out in left field and just made up stuff when I asked about the basketball team, however!
The College of the Holy Cross basketball team has been performing well in the recent season. They have won 12 out of their 18 games and are currently ranked second in the Patriot League standings. The team has shown great teamwork, resilience and skill on the court, led by their senior captain and top scorer, John Smith. The team hopes to continue their winning streak and qualify for the NCAA tournament.
All in all, a mixed bag, but very interesting!
