"Regular-season college baseball does not typically attract significant betting interest or large wagers. FanDuel said it didn't take a single bet on the game, and other sportsbooks also reported minimal betting on it."
The problem isn't something like college baseball, clearly. The bets stuck out like the proverbial sore thumb and they squashed it in a jiffy. Had this been football or basketball, however.........................

The Alabama no.1 starter in this game was a late scratch - only the head coach knew - he’s in big trouble This was bound to happen and not the last time we’ll see some funny business with college sports

So. . . sports betting is becoming legal in more and more places and stuff like this is happening
Devil's advocate: Did the pitcher have back spasms that day? Or did he have some a few days earlier and felt great that day, but coach decided to give him an extra day about the same time the coach was in the hole with this other bets?
Sports and betting. It seems like a great fit. More eyes watching on TV. In the long run, the gambling will corrupt the sport

Wow, an Eddie Cicotte quote- very impressive Was he the first knuckleballer? Certainly one of the earliest. He was a great pitcher who ruined his career by participating in the Black Sox scandal. He likely would have made the hall of fame. I remember Al Cicotte with the Yankees--I had his baseball card when I was very young. In learning about the Black Sox when I got a little older I assume Al was Eddie's son but he was the great-nephew. With that uncommon last name Al no doubt was asked over and over if he was related to the disgraced Eddie.

Gotta confess. That's a famous quote but I don't know who originally said it. I just attributed it to Cicotte because, with the rise of sports betting, Alabama has shown that we're heading towards a repeat of 1919

Stuff like this has happened before sports gambling was widely legalized and will continue to happen.
Whether it's Knuckles or Fan Duel getting the action it's always going to happen.
