The thought of Huggins in these meetings, events, etc.

I wouldn't be shocked if Huggins makes additional derogatory statements. Like a Lucky Strike cigarette, he has no filter. I bet the SID staff will work hard to keep him in the "BN Witness Protection Program."

Heard from one observer that WVU won’t whack him because he has some great transfers coming in

I'm a big believer in forgiveness and second chances...but this is a joke.
WVU basically used this as an excuse to save $$ and to have the ability to get rid of him sans buyout if he has a bad year as far as W-L.

confirmed what most of us suspected. this is being positioned only as an "anti-gay" slur with no mention of the fact that it was also anti-Catholic/Christian.

Even the reporting seems biased as virtually no mention or criticism of it being anti-Catholic

Well, The Athletic at least had this “ Huggins twice used an anti-gay slur when referring to Xavier fans, describing them as “f—, Catholic f—,” also denigrating Xavier’s Jesuit religious affiliation in the process.”

Will there be protests outside of WVU Coliseum next season?

Will there be protests outside of WVU Coliseum next season? Well, Pres Gee, he of countless jobs, tried to buy off the opposition, at least the LGBTQ part, ( who knows if there will be any pro Catholic opponents ?) with the Huggins fine, but I believe there will be some, even if small.,

Will there be protests outside of WVU Coliseum next season? No, because the "wrong" groups were slandered. Remember, the justice is on behalf of a perceived, aggrieved bunch. It's all about standing up for the marginalized, but only the popular marginalized!
I'll see myself out now...

Anti Gay. Anti Catholic. I wonder how his comments played in West Virginia & other places? I suspect many would dismiss his comments as no big deal, merely humorous . It's easy to adopt this stance if it's not your ox being gored or if you harbor some of these biases deep w/in your heart. Today, some might complain that the critics of Huggins are surrendering to the woke crowd, a descendant of the PC folks.

Gee is at WVU now? Lost track of him. He was at THE Ohio State University when we were living in Ohio. Then, he left for Brown just before we moved to RI. My wife then worked awhile at Brown and met him during his short tenure before he departed before his contract was over as a precedent-setter for the transfer portal. It seemed everywhere he went, his emphasis has been on athletics over academics. I was shocked when he went back to OSU, thought they had had enough of him as the Buckeye faithful were just appalled that he would leave the greatest university in the country for some rinky dink tiny university in some tiny state. I knew he left OSU a second time but didn't remember where he went. The man must have moved more times than anyone in our armed forces.
Assume he's still wearing his trademark bow ties.

Just read the Wikipedia piece on Gee. He was president of WVU once before 1981 to1985. He left TOSU in 2013 after making anti-Catholic remarks, allegedly in jest, about the University of Notre Dame per wiki. Sounds like he and Huggins make a pretty solid team, maybe the Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig of higher education bigotry.

So, twice at WV and twice at OSU. He's like a bad penny that keeps coming back. Guess what? Brown will never take him back. You don't short-change an Ivy League contract but they likely realized they were better off without him.

Huggins was just discussed on CNN. One possible reason he wasn't fired is because surveys have shown Americans are tiring of cancel culture. Make one mistake and be blown off the face of the earth is less appealing.
It was also pointed out that coaches who get fired after an incident of bad behavior have consistently had poorer won/loss records than those who don't get fired.
One season while Coach at Cincinatti Huggins had a zero graduation rate while he recently had a 100% rate in Morgantown, so he has been shown to be able to grow and improve. He has stepped in it with other comments in the past, however.

Cancel culture isn't a real thing, it is the general public holding celebrities and individuals accountable for their own actions. Even before "cancel culture" was even a word an actor like Mel Gibson was shunned from Hollywood for making Anti-Jew comments in 2006 and more racist comments also came out. He basically didn't work for a decade.

WVU cannot let him continue to coach. But wait a year or two, some school will pick him up, claiming forgiveness. See Pitino, Rick, Iona, St. John’s.
