Congrats to Coach Ferry. You have to start somewhere if you want to be a head coach. I didn't realize that he is another example of a guy who didn't play college hoops but who has made a career in coaching for himself. Per the announcement:
A 2010 graduate of Vanderbilt with a bachelor's degree in human and organizational development, Ferry spent four years as a student manager for the Commodores before serving as the team's director of video operations in 2010-2011. He was a part of four NCAA Tournament teams with the Commodores (2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011).
The last guy was making about $69,000 per year. Hopefully they increase that for Ferry. By way of comparison to other coaches in that league, the men's head coach at Eastern Conn. makes $122,000 and the coach at Western Conn makes $110,000. It looks like the head coach jobs at UMass Dartmouth and UMass Boston are part time jobs paying $25,000 to $35,000.

Maybe we'll book RIC as our D.3 game next season - same league as some of our previous D.3 opponents

RIC was an excellent program under Bob Walsh (2005-14) before he made his ill-fated move to Maine. It's a good gig for a first head coaching job

That takes the cake.

So not sure how good of a job that is though This is a very good job. Has been for a while now. AD seems like a hard person to work for. He wanted to win the press conference so therefore hired a D1 assistant. The former coach was tired of commuting to Providence. Rivier is much closer to his home. he is also taking a large paycut for the shorter commute.

I wish him much success in his new position. I am happy to see he landed on his feet.

Did he have other options ?” He was not returning to HC. ”This is a very good job…. AD seems like a hard person to work for.” Confusing follow up sentence..

If we are still going to schedule D-3 teams, let's go with Nichols because now that Nelson is gone and Paulsen on the job, we have a shot at beating them. And R.J. had been an assistant there. Maybe old news here that I missed but under the current coaching staff it just shows "NADII" and no assistants. goholycross.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster#sidearm-roster-coaches

I think coachrt is saying the former coach took a large paycut when he took the Rivier job.

I covered his game tonight and he is WILD as a head coach...don't see a head coach too many times pushing a player on the court to get in position.

If we really are that desperate for a game, I think I'd go for WPI, Clark, or Worcester St. I get the concept that Ferry is a former colleague of current assistant Evans, so that might be a reason to throw RIC a bone 2) Is NADII, Non-Alum Dave's son?

I don't think I took any of him since he wasn't my client but I been involved in college hoops for over 20 years and seen some crazy coaches. He might be up there. He was whistling every possession, 8-10 feet on the court consistently etc. I wasn't expecting it at all.

And here I thought you memorized all my posts! Or maybe you are just being sarcastic? After the original NAD and I met Coach Paulsen at Fitton Field 2-3 months ago, I was so impressed with Dave Paulsen being so committed to Holy Cross' mission and athletic success, him being a "non-alum" like NAD, that I couldn't dub him "NAD" since we already had the original, so I came up with "NADII" (the second Non-Alum Dave with the roman numeral "II" for a touch of class that Coach Paulsen deserves). Now you and all Crossporters know.

I got nothing on him yelling and physically pushing players to get in position though on offense.

If you cover hs football, you'll notice how much leeway they give the head coach. Usually it's ok, he's just out there enough to grab the qb, give him the play, and scoot back to the sidelines. But, some officials let the coach get away with murder. I saw a guy the other night do a dead sprint across the hash marks to where the head referee was set up to call time out. Must have gone 15-20 yards from the sideline.

Remember when Coach Calipari was at UMass and got T'd up because he was out of the coaches box during a NCAA tourney game?
