Today is the feast of the Ascension, men, a holy day of obligation. Hope you are able to make it to Mass to participate in the Eucharist today. God Bless.

The standard practice around here seems to be a single Mass during the work day on the feast, and a vigil the night before. For people working a normal day shift, you're kind of forced into going the night before.
So, while some of us will not be able to participate today, we got our chance last night

Interesting that some seem unaware that the Ascension is observed by more Bishops on Sunday than today. That change is not a new one. In the Newark, NJ Archdiocese today is dedicated to Saint Pope John I. In any case, attending Mass can always beneficial regardless of the title some give the day. Have a good one.

Slackards! As FYI to my Classmate pegleg, our parish does 8:30 am and 6:00 pm today. "Next door" parish (we only have 5 Catholic churches in Cranston) had Masses at 7:00 PM last night, 7:00 AM this morning and then a later morning Mass. We went to the exported 7:00 PM last night because we had some guys coming to work on our deck and I had a doctor appointment. So, pegleg, we aren't all going directly to hell!

The former math major in me thinks there's something to be said for celebrating 40 days after 40 days and not 43. Kind of like moving Memorial Day to the last Monday in May. Do they do something similar for All Saints, Assumption or Immaculate Conception? In MA, 2 of those (and I never remember which ones) get ignored if they fall on a Saturday or a Monday

I might consider it, except that I am among those divorced Catholics the Church does not allow to receive the Eucharist. A very unfortunate rule. Perhaps, if Pope Francis lives long enough, that may change. Or possibly if his successor is equally enlightened, he may overcome the reticent cardinals and bishops.
