Both teams are called the Red Raiders. And Colgate doesn't even have baseball anymore.

Both teams are called the Red Raiders. And Colgate doesn't even have baseball anymore. Nor do they have the nickname of Red Raiders. That was eliminated back around 2000.

I guess it is oK to be a "Raider" with all the plundering and killing that entails. But, once you add a color, I guess that maKes it racist.

Omg. This insane ending to a baseball game ends up with another Crossports mascot discussion.

Omg. This insane ending to a baseball game ends up with another Crossports mascot discussion. We’ll soon work in a tangent on the Big East invitations

Lot of pieces of this "blame pie".
Catcher and first baseman have have the biggest piece. Third would be the pitcher, he's facing the play and is the closest.
No question it was not swung at. Kind of surprised the batter had the instinct to run to first right away, didn't seem like that curveball caught any of the plate.

Must be my old eyes but that sure looked like a ball, low and inside. Then again, I wasn't the ump.

1. The pitch should have been called a ball. 2. The ump did not give the strike sign or at least did not give it the same way he gave it on the prior pitch. 3. Nevertheless, the batter and catcher knew it was a strike, presumably bacause of an audible strike call. 4. The issue is whether the catcher tagged the batter or not. 5. The ump gave a half hearted safe signal as to the tag. 6. This is on the pitcher and catcher. 7. The poor second baseman knew what was going on and couldn't get the ball.
EDIT: I looked around online and found this video about the proper mechanics for the umpire in this situation. This guy says that the umpire should not give the strike sign (raised right arm) but should give the safe sign and verbalize "no catch." I can't tell whether the ump said anything but it would seem to me that he should have been louder.

Hearing there was a small fire which damaged one of the scoreboards. Anyone have an update?

I believe it was the one that sits between Fitton and the baseball field.

The new video board for football, or the baseball scoreboard?
