Since Malachi hit 1,000 points a couple of games ago, I was wondering who's next with at least 20 games to go this season.
By my calculation, Robert Champion has 781 points after tonight's 10 leaving him 219 shy of the 1,000 mark and needs to average just under 11 ppg for the remainder of the season. If he stays healthy, should make it.
Anthony Thompson started his career hot with 302 points his first year, tailed off considerably in his second season due to his injury, bounced back in his junior year and has 747 career points after tonight's 8. He would have to average more than 12.5 points over the remainder of the season to make it. I think most of us have come to the conclusion that his primary role is not a scorer and his chances seem considerably tougher than Robert's.

Everybody benefited last year from a 6 game post season. Another long run would be helpful towards hitting the milestone.
As you said, Champion simply needs to maintain his season scoring average to make it. Thompson would almost have to double his scoring during league play. Barring an even longer post season run, I don't think Thompson is likely to get there.
Going forward, Karl Charles could hit the half way point this calendar year or at least early January. A healthy Charles would likely be the next.
Right now Zignorski is the only other one on the roster in triple digits. After Charles, everyone on this roster would really need to have big step ups in the next few years to even be in the conversation

Note also that Malachi has moved up two places on the Career Three Point FG Percentage list, passing Brian Wilson and Andrew Beinert. He is at .410 for his career

Still, 900 points in 2 1/2 seasons is asking a lot. Other than Charles, none of the lower classmen are in the conversation, nor are they likely to be by season's end. But, you never know. Players can make big improvements. Champion vastly improved going into his junior season to put himself in the mix. We all expect players to develop, but predicting Champion's junior season would have been wishful thinking. Even with that leap forward, if HC pulled a predicted one and done in the PL tournament, Champion would have been real borderline to make 1000 Come March of 2018, I hope we can speculate about a Benzan or Floyd hitting 1000, but as of today, at current trajectory, I'd say that Benzan would be a stretch and Floyd would be a long shot

MZ began the season with a 89 point lead over classmate PB; for good reason PB is getting 3 times the playing time this season and is within 10 points of pulling even with MZ in scoring... I think it would be good for the team if MZ gets/earns more minutes and that he and PB finish the season with 200 +/- points each.... JF's recent foul shooting is encouraging, may be able to avg 1 or 2 pts more for the remainder of the season with the minutes he has been getting. This would be the scoring we need to have the team average 60+... although if MA starts to score 15+ per game by pushing his FT % up, that would be better
