I don't know anything about volleyball recruiting but it has to be a good thing when we get a commit from the Laguna Beach Volleyball Club.

Miwaukie Oregon is home of Bob' Red Mill. www.bobsredmill.com/If you are in the Portland area, you should take a tour of the factory. Great tour and story about the mill and Bob business philosophy. We got to meet Bob,very nice gentleman, who truly cares about his employees. He turned the company into an ESOP.

Very interesting there are no more than 4 in any class on the current roster, yet we are bringing in 8 frosh . sounds like an upgrade. Wonder where the new schollie $$ came from. ?

Football Title 9 offsets most likely.

Football Title 9 offsets most likely. But we are losing 2 seniors and bringing in 8 there are no more football schollies than last year.

It would be unusual for any player to get a full schollie, it is possible that neither senior got a partial scholarship. IIRC v-ball was the last of the women's sports to start offering schollies.

In my occasional reviews of the HC athletic department budget, I have previously noted (more so on the old board) that HC was spending an extraordinary amount on indirect expenses.
Indirect expenses 2004-05 / 2011-12 / 2014-15 $ in millions Colgate 2.6 / 3.5 / 3.6 Holy Cross 2.2 / 6.0 / 7.8 Lafayette 2.0 / 2.6 / 2.5
(HC's total athletic budget was $11.5M in 2004-05; $20.7M in 2011-12, and $25.7 M in 2014-15).
I'll reiterate my earlier speculation that the jump in HC indirect spending in recent years was related to: 1.) improvements to the Hart (e.g., swimming pool renovation); 2.) new / refurbished playing fields; and 3.) architectural and engineering services for Luth and Hart. I further speculated that ADNP could easily re-allocate between $3 and $4 million of spending for indirect expenses to direct expenses (e.g., scollies and coaches' salaries) even if there was no overall increase in the athletic budget.
Based on that, I believe what we are seeing in volleyball is additional scollie aid being provided.

Part of the explanation may lie in attrition. The 2016 roster of the HC Athletics web site shows 4 sophomores and 2 seniors. However, the 2015 roster had 6 freshmen and 4 juniors. Thus, four underclassmen on the 2015 roster were not part of the 2016 roster. You might look at the incoming freshman class therefore adding only 2 players to a normal roster -- the 8 incoming frosh replace 4 players who did not continue and 2 graduating seniors.

Thanks wonder how the financial aid worked for those who left the team but remained at the college ?

The Harvard wvb coach's son goes to the same hs as my daughter...we ended up chatting at a girls game last year. It was made clear in our conversation (more by a few ah's and pregnant pauses than any direct quote) that the level of play in Mass. for that sport is very low, probably lower than girls basketball.
