HC up 12-1 but have left bases loaded the last 2 innings. Can't watch this as the streaming is extremely poor. It seems the stream studders just as the pitch comes to the plate and you hear the audio say it was a strike, ball, HBP, etc. but don't see it. It's like blinking your eyes at the wrong time but happens pitch after pitch. Bleeah!

LU loaded the bases with 2 out. Hit through the left side drove in 2 more. New pitcher, Cravero, coming in for HC. (Have to admit I am a bit more nervous with a 7 run lead than I was when 11 ahead.) Runners advance to 2nd and 3rd on a WP.
HC now leads 12-5 coming up in the bottom of the 5th inning.
Navy takes BU 5-3 in game 2...game 3 coming up for them.

Luvollo out because of batter interference. Replay makes it look a bit questionable, but the ump called it right away. LU coming up in the top of the 6th. HC still leads 12-5.

Good thing we had that huge lead as it looked like we just couldn't seal the deal and win 12-8. But a win is a win. On to the finals.

HC wins 12-8.
Navy leads Bucknell 5-0 in the bottom of the third. Looks like we'll be heading south next weekend.

Perhaps, but two thoughts: 1. What makes you think I have an evil mind unless you had the same thought? 2. I have already performed my penance by my annual Lenten abstention from Crossports.

With questionable weather for such an important series, the scheduling seems to be a good safety valve. It would be nice to see HC wrap this up on Sat and Sunday, but if it takes 3 games for HC to win the title, I can certainly be patient.

Would love to see the team take home the championship. If memory serves me corretcly, I don't think we have ever won the PL for Baseball. When was the last time the team won their league and advanced to NCAA?

When was the last time the team won their league and advanced to NCAA? I am not sure HC ever advanced to the NCAA by winning their league. They did a number of times with a bid while playing an independent schedule. However, I have no idea where those baseball archives would be now.

According to the baseball page's quick facts(no details)the last NCAA appearance was 1978, and before that, the glorious season of 1967: Kelly, McCarthy, Kopec, Avis, Sach, etc. As some may recall, we won the regular season in 2013, but lost in the PL tourney. the last NCa tourney win(according to the archive page) was the first game in '78 vs St John's. In the northeast regional. We lost the next two to be eliminated.

It was finally rained out and I returned to the car (parked at a gas station) to find a flat tire. If I could go pack to '67 I would still make the trip! That was a great team to watch.

According to the archives, the 67 District 1 games were in Amherst. we were shut out in both games of a doubleheader vs UMass for elimination. 91 was the last year we were in the ECAC tourney in Orono, ME, losing 2 games, winning 1

Interesting. Perhaps that was where the game was finally played after it was rained out on the scheduled date. It was originally scheduled, IIRC, for Fenway. That was where Jim and I sat in the stands for about an hour until they announced the postponement. (The flat was also a good reminder. )

Avis hit a line drive off the monster for a single, home run in any other park
