Here is coach Monken's presser from Tuesday - like the fellow above neither one seemed to acknowledge the injury to Sluka - Monken spoke about his great throw to Coker to end the 1st half, even tho it wasn't Matt. I'm sure their def coordinator is well informed about both of our qb's twitter.com/i/broadcasts/1vOxwMXolRbGB

Looks like it will be a nice day. Sunny, low 50s, a bit breezy, no chance of rain.

I’m guessing it’s been mentioned here but it looks like the cadets now sit behind the visiting bench which I don’t think used to be the case when I was last there many years ago. Are folks here sitting in the end zone to be among other HC fans or just getting the best available seats?

This morning's Globe picks for the weekend's college games has 4 of 5 writers picking HC for the win.
For the record, 4 of 5 (different make-up) are also picking BC to knock off their guests from Blacksburg.

i was just looking through Army's media guide.
Army vs. Holy Cross games have had 4 of the 40th largest crowds at Michie stadium.
The game played on Oct 27th 1973 is number 7. HC won that game 17-10. There were 42,123 fans in attendance.
It will be interesting to see hat the number is tomorrow.

Some history. Did you know (I didn't realize myself) that there was a stretch when we played Army in 9 of 10 consecutive seasons:
'72 - L15-13 (HC still recovering from '69 hepatitis season) '73 - W 17-10 (noted above) '74 - L 13-10 (look how close those 3 games were with HC scoring 40 points to Army's 38. I would have liked to have gone to this game but it was my wedding day and my brother was listening on the radio and giving updates.) '75 - L 44-7 (ugh!) '76 - L 26-24 (back to squeakers) '77 - L 48-7 (another ugh!) '78 - W 31-0 (payback!) '79 - DNP '80 - L 28-7 '81 - W 28-13 (series over for then)

In Jen Tolland's latest TG piece, Jordan Fuller mentions his Dad played Army in 3 of his 4 seasons. We have a strong history with them, too bad the CUSA move might mean fewer OOC games for them. I'd like to see us be their FCS game every few years.

This game tomorrow is the 50th year since I played my first game at Michie. I will be meeting Dave Frenette, Mike Pizzotti and Mark Vollman and their wives at the game. Very excited.

'79 - DNP '80 - L 28-7 '81 - W 28-13 (series over for then) The 1976 game was Neil Wheelwright’s second game as head coach. We lost the opener to UNH 17-3 and came into the game running the wishbone. Had a 24-6 lead late in the third or early in the 4th qtr. and were inside the Army 10 yd. line ready to go up 31-6. We turned the ball over and Army turned it on. Lost on a long TD pass with under a minute to go. Probably one of the most disappointing losses in my 57 yrs. of watching HC football. We truly snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. IMO that loss changed the trajectory of Wheelwright’s first two years only to be righted when we beat BC at the end of the ‘77 season. Had we not lost that game, I’m guessing that our record in ‘76 and’77 would have been quite a bit better than 5-17.

Any good chance of Matt Sluka and J. Dobbs having recovered from their injuries and being available to play as normal vs. Army? Anyone here have any inside info?

Any good chance of Matt Sluka and J. Dobbs having recovered from their injuries and being available to play as normal vs. Army? Anyone here have any inside info? No inside info but I am prepared for anything from no QB direct snaps to Fuller or Purdy to two QBs in the backfield with J.P. and Matt and hope the Army D has had to prepare for all the possibilities this week making their game plan impossibly complicated.

Any good chance of Matt Sluka and J. Dobbs having recovered from their injuries and being available to play as normal vs. Army? Anyone here have any inside info? Last week J Dobbs was held out of our must-win game versus Lehigh. He was out most of last year due to shoulder injury. Will he play every down on defense versus non-league Army today? Good question. Sluka played just one (running) play last week in our must-win game versus Lehigh. That was one play less than he played the previous week in the must-win versus Fordham. Will he play every down versus non-league Army today? Another very good question. It goes without saying that Army is not a must-win as we chase the league championship and auto-bid. Colgate, our next game, is.

We wound up in Section 8. Figured that was appropriate for my crew at West Point. Hope to see some of you there.

Section 29, 45 yard line 5th row on visitor’s side.
Will be close to the team, but just found out about 5 yards from where all the Cadets sit.
Can’t wait!!!!!
