CARO looking like clairvoyant on his bold prediction on demise of BU. Bucknell is the only team playing with any consistency, Lehigh is hard to figure as they appear to be most talented team but seem to play down to their competition. We are now in position to make a good run at the upper echelon of the league as we have both BU and Lehigh at home in the second half of league play. Not exactly rocket science, but I appreciate the praise. Helps build me back up after John "Clock Tower" Wooden tries to tear me down -Bucknell has a chance because they are pretty talented and have the best coach in the league. -Lehigh is the most talented team in the league, so they should be the favorite if they kick it into grear, but Dr Brett Read is a well below average coach. -Holy Cross has two seniors who can take over games/take over the PL Tournament and has the confidence from winning the PL last year. The rest of the teams would be long shots, and BU has a 0.0% chance.

Gents, gotta give BBC kudos for seeing BU as a paper tiger. And isn't making predictions about sports what a message board is all about. Make enough predictions and you will have some success and some failure. Our moderator said hc v Bucknell was pick 'em ?? Hoops/konchalski said good things about TC. Both were terribly wrong (they nail it on occasion too) as was I in saying bu, bu and Lehigh would run away and hide. Cheers to BBC for his BU unmasking.

Sadly, we won't get a chance to see how good TC could have been at HC.

Lehigh had all it could do to beat Lafayette, winning by 7 though LAF led for a while.
one tidbit from the Navy game: Navy shooting guard Bryce Dulin had 17 rebounds-

Cedric Hankerson of BU---is he injured? His shooting woes continued today against Bucknell as he went 1-8 on threes, making him 2-20 in BU's three consecutive losses. In the prior three games, all BU wins, he was 15-26 on threes. He very seldom takes a two point fg attempt

Lehigh teams from the first decade of the 2000's would steamroll anyone in the PL right now.

The best few Flannery and RW teams were better than this year's Bucknell or Lehigh teams - but they certainly wouldn't "steamroll" them. But Jeff Jones only had one team as good as this year's top teams - his 2009'team, which had a final Pomeroy ranking of #112. As for Billy Taylor's teams, it is clear you weren't paying attention. Every single Lehigh team he coached, including 2004, was much weaker than this year's top teams.

Perhaps this holds true for all good teams, i.e. when they, improbably, find themselves down at the half against a team they should be beating, they storm back in the second half to win. Maybe it's just a matter of the randomness of shooting luck reverting to the norm...or it could be that Bucknell this year has a deep team that is able to wear their opponents down in the second half as the opponents tire but Bucknell keeps going. Bucknell has been down at the half four of eight games this season. Bucknell was outscored by Lehigh in both halves and lost, but against Navy the Bison were (9) in the first half then +13 in the second. Versus American it was (4) then +13 and yesterday against Boston U it was (7) then +18. I think Bucknell has talent in depth.

Do you really think the top of the league is as strong as it was for almost every year in the first decade of the 2000's? If so, it's clear you "aren't paying attention." The talent on this Bucknell team is far more reminiscent of the team that lost to Sean Kearney's Crusaders in the 09-10 season than the Flannery teams. Lehigh is talented, but poorly coached and have lost to some really bad teams (something that just didn't happen for those years when HC and Bucknell were basically only losing to each other). Jeff Jones' early teams with Miles and Stokes, a couple teams with Ingram, and his later teams with Carr and Mercer would be favorites to win the league this year. Lehigh's top teams when they had combinations of Austin Rowland, Jose Olivero, and Joe Knight would be right at the top of this year's PL.

And I think the Crusader NCAA and NIT team champs would kill any of these teams this year. Who cares how a team from 3, 5, 10, 50 years ago would do against these teams? Not me. Willard, Flannery, et. al. are gone. And so are all their players.

Its obvious you are totally clueless about the PL and anything that has happened in it in the last 20 years. Yes, I think Pomeroy us fairly accurate - and I know it's far more accurate than anything you gave posted. Btw, Pomeroy rankings say that there has been only one year (2013) when the PL was better than this year.

Patriot League is very comfortable in the low mid major category. Only good team this year is Bucknell. Everyone else is mediocre at best. Might have trouble winning a play in game. IMHO (NAD)

two different issues/debates (1) overall strength of the conference and (2) strength of top few teams. It's possible for the conference to be stronger (than it was in a reference period) even if its top team is not.
