Does anyone have any idea how big the check is that goes back to Worcester on the bus? Rough guess is $85k My understanding is hoops go from $50-$125k football $450-$1.4 million

Can they stop the game now? I believe that after you posted this, the rest of the game was SJU 81, HC 27. Mahdone! With about 13-14 minutes left and the spread in the mid 20s, the announcer said SJU had played 12 out of 13; or 13 out of 14 guys dressed. Pretty much knew the rest of the game would be ugly. Not like the Red Storm had many others to put in during garbage time.

I still remember that Arkansas game...and it is not a happy memory. I thought a lot about that game. Same kind of pressure. HC was down 17 under 3 min to go, George waved the white flag; garbage time was a bunch of non-scholarship HC guys against guys from Arkansas that had played significant minutes during the game. Got real ugly real fast. Ended up around 30.

There's no way a gym with a capacity of 5,600 generates anywhere near a million in revenue to begin with; and HC sure doesn't get all of it anyway.

DP is a man defense guy. Not really a lot of benefit to installing a zone last week to hope we lose by 30 instead of 46 to St. John’s. When there is a mismatch in talent at every position, that’s where the zone helps. It’s exactly why Willard used it and I’m pretty sure that was his explanation as to why on many occasions. I understand but you need to commit to it. RW also said he spent a ton of practice time on it so we could master it. It’s not something to roll out for one game. If DP thinks the guys he’s bringing in can play effective man defense over the next several years, may as well take our lumps with it this year and get everyone used to how he wants to play it.

Didn't see the game, but one random observation from simply reading the box score, in a game that had plenty of garbage time, Kirkwood and Rabinovich got one minute. Even came in a decent time after McIntyre

I am definitely in favor of using different defenses, just as one should have multiple sets on offense! Strictly MTM allows opposing coaches to beat you in multiple ways! Changing defenses during games, when appropriate, I believe, gives you an advantage! One only has to remember RW with his match-up zone, it gave other coaches fits and some coaches refused to play us because of it! FHCBC wisely used the zone in the 2016 run to the PL Championship and the big dance! I really think it would be helpful to have multiple strategies in your arsenal especially if we expect to be middle or higher in the PL standings! And, just maybe there is a copy of RW’s playbook collecting dust somewhere in the Luth, that is if FHCBN didn’t toss it in the trash during his tenure! But then I’m sure RJ would most certainly have one!

We are altitudinally challenged. Rabs is our tallest player and we could use some help in that area. He apparently is not injured anymore. And yet he gets virtually no floor time. Perhaps his potential when recruited has not been, and may never be, realized?
I know some posters know him and by all accounts is a good guy but I'm disappointed in what he's been able to accomplish as a basketball player . . . . so far.
Anyone with any insights as to what's the story here that can be publicly shared?

My guess, Rabs is not better than Kenney or Louth, and if there's still playing time at that position might as well let the freshman play

While one can certainly understand the Crusaders losing and losing big against Pitino's All-Star transfer team, here's a stat that's hard to accept:
Our high scorer never made it into double digits - Caleb Kenney had but 8 points and only played 19 minutes and wasn't due to being in foul trouble since he had zero fouls.
Oh well, on to facing Maine who shouldn't be quite as big a challenge.

Disappointing in the case of Rabinowich; team has limited size and the guy that's getting minutes ahead of him is nowhere near ready to be a good college ballplayer.

Here's an interesting stat: Joe Nugent and Deandre Williams have played a combined 340 minutes and have collectively attempted ONE foul shot.

Dre has done a fine job handling the ball with an assist to turnover total of 18 to 8. He did have 5 of each last night, but did not seem intimidated by the SJU consistent pressure. Joe N. has been very confident in taking open threes and has shot them effectively. He has also rebounded strongly, i.e. grabbing 2 contested defensive boards vs St John’s bigs early in last night’s game. Averages 4,7 RPG, 3rd on the team. He is strong and will expand his offensive arsenal. In 129 minutes he has only 4 turnovers. These two have been the most advanced of the freshmen thus far.

Minutes played by freshmen to date Nugent - 179 Williams - 161 Singleton - 66 Wills - 47 Ryan -28 McIntyre - 6 Williams and Nugent getting more than double the floor time than their classmates are getting

I believe that the other 3 scholarship players will see increased minutes sooner rather than later. Wills play at St.John’s should help him. He showed the best quickness of the guards with his dribble and lane penetration.

It will come once we get Boston and Williams together to run the offense, and the others can score, defend, and contribute with confidence
Will improve this year and make a big jump next year
