He is nearly 80, admitted to the NY State bar in 1961. That would indicate he graduated from HC circa 1957-1958. His office/residence is in Palm Beach. He is listed as a member of the BoT at BC in 1998. His son graduated from BC. class of '87. His older brother Daniel Burns graduated from St. Sebastian's and BC. "Dan was a devoted alumnus of St. Sebastian's and was a major participant in the establishment of the Judge John J. Burns Library of Rare Books and Special Collections at Boston College." See more at: www.legacy.com/obituaries/nytimes/obituary.aspx?page=lifestory&pid=151908525#sthash.TNq7x1zz.dpufAt UVa law, Dan was Ted Kennedy's roommate. His older brother was recognized for this:

Praise the Lord! His reputation is saved (maybe). He was on the HC BoT for 12 years, 1978-1989, and on the BC BoT from 1998 to 2003.
Also there are HC connections here: Burns was a director of the Kellogg Company of Battle Creek, Mich., from 1979 to 1989 and served as the first Chairman of its Finance Committee. He also served as a director and Chairman of the Executive Committee of The Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of New York, Inc.

If his old man was Joe Kennedy's lawyer then he helped cover up lots of wrongdoing.

OK, someone help me out here. The heading of the thread is that this HC alum is/will be "next ambassador to Ireland." Then there is a link about his Irish roots and all that and the offensive reference to his giving to BC.
Where is a link to establish this guy is going to be the next ambassador? I have seen nothing and assume it is too early for Trump to be naming any ambassadors and Obama is certainly not naming anyone in the next 13 days.
i assume this is a joke and the thread has wandered to his donations to BC.
Edit: I am sorry, I am just cranky after the Bucknell loss.

Chris Matthews was inducted into the same Hall of Fame. Perhaps I missed it but I didn't see a reference to any Hall of Fame in the link. To what are you referring.

Thanks, nice write up on Chris Matthews. During the run up to the elections I never missed his nightly show.
Missed his calling, would have been a great trial lawyer given his proficiency at relentless questioning. Without a judge to object to many of his interviewees had no choice but to answer the questions he asked rather than the questions they wanted to answer.
I particularly like how often he mentions his Catholic faith and values,
