Absolutely not. The seven were the only ones able to play. Illness and injury have taken a toll. This was not entirely voluntary as it was with FCBN. The comparison is unfortunaqte to say the least. Kirkwood, Rabs and the other Declan cannot play? I counted 4 that looked like they had uniforms on and never took the jackets off, the 4th being Capron. Couple minutes here and couple minutes there keeps his core, which on this night is 7, fresher; which I believe was a big problem tonight. They went from playing decent defense to giving up uncontested shots. Plus Capron, I counted 4 guys who were dressed and never saw the floor. From a practical standpoint, you're not going to get much production from a walk-on. I don't know what to tell you about Rabs or Kirkwood. Coach Paulsen has relegated them to near walk-on status. It does seem a little strange. Especially Kirkwood, who was in the mix last year

Ryan-13 minutes played- 10 points…….but 4 personal fouls I don't think the guys guarding him have any clue how to stop him, even though for all appearances, he's glued to the floor. His game, in this era of high flying basketball; is, shall we say, unconventional. But it apparently works.

But, it's damn frustrating when they've played 20-25 minutes and their legs are shot; couldn't get up in anyone's face on a shot attempt, their own shots were well off the mark, usually short.

This was destined not to be pretty. For most of the season, there has been a core of 7.5 players (.5 because Singleton was a distant 8th) . Three of that seven didn't dress. 5 freshmen and two upperclassmen. Oh and by the way, Kenney and Octave weren't quite right. Especially Kenney seemed to be cramping, Both of them spent bench time on the stationary bike
Freshmen might be the hope of the future, but they will be inconsistent. Hopefully the silver lining is the minutes for the players that were outside the core. Based on his opportunity the last two games, I think Wills has earned his way into the core.

Rabs did not sit on the end of the bench. He also participated in the pre-game layup lines

I just want to see if the young core has potential and improves. Resultswise, I never thought we'd do well. Our hope for the regular season is a combination of team improving and a bad league will help us. Kirkwood not playing at all seems strange but he obviously isn't trusted by CDP. For your own peace I wouldn't take our poor start too much to heart.

KenPom has us at #357 over all out of 362 teams and #361 on defense ahead of only Arkansas Pune-Bluff

Shouldn't we be seeing some post-game interviews from Paulsen? Am I missing them? If so, where can I find them?

Given injuries and the abilities of the players I've lowered my expectations. HC is a team without a center and a true point guard. The season will be a success if DP keeps the team playing hard and develops the freshmen. Wins are going to be tough to come by.

I think experience matters at this level.
I did some quick math. Last night Quinnipiac's starters entered the game with 6957 minutes of D-I played (I think)
Holy Cross' entire dressed squad had a total of 4501. I am too lazy to do the math for Q's bench, but that would only make the experience disparity worse
Career minutes:
Octave 1843 Kenney 1532 Nugent 266 Kirkwood 224 Williams 220 Rabs 165 Singleton 102 Willis 81 Ryan 53 Capron 15 McIntyre 8
With decent (not even great) coaching, I would expect this group of inexperienced kids to grow into the college game. In the mean time, it's going to be a rough ride

Based on his opportunity the last two games, I think Wills has earned his way into the coreA. A number of coaches (including RW) have said that the best thing about freshmen is that they become sophomores!
