I thought Holy Cross would have went with a head coach with a more proven track record or a well respected young FBS coordinator. Nothing about Curran really stands out other than his regional/cultural familiarity given his time at Merrimack. Amazingly, Lehigh is 2-0 against Curran with two bad teams; including this year. I'm very interested to see how this plays out for Holy Cross.

His son is apparently a 3* WR with a HC offer, but is committed to Ball State. Let's see how good of a recruiter he is at home. I can see the kid wanting to play “up” from Merrimack, and at the same time, I can see his old man not wanting him to sign with HC. Maybe now, however, DC can convince the son that he “can have it all” at Holy Cross. I bet the wife & mother would like that! BTW - Per Hudl, Ty Curran is the #1 Slot Receiver in New England. Book ‘em, Danno! Ty Curran just commented, "Let's go!" on the hcrossfb Instagram post showing his old man on campus.

I'll take Chesney's opinion over that of any of the naysayers here - you can be sure Kit sought - and got - Chesney's thumbs up opinion about the guy who beat him in '21.

Very interesting-let’s see if Ty has a change of heart
This has to be a tough, tough situation for our friend Foley, hating Holy Cross and wanting to denigrate everything HC does but then seeing that our new coach graduated from the school Foley attended…..

Does Merrimack have a Crossports-type site? If so, has anyone checked out the chatter? NO ONE has a site like Crossports!

98.5 the Sports Hub has been mentioning our hire on their headline segments each hour. Nice to see the Boston media taking notice.

Well Coach James's wife just sent out a welcome tweet to HCDC, so hopefully that means they're sticking around!

I’m feeling really good about Curran. HC is the opportunity he needed to take things to the next level. Chesney built the foundation. Now Curran is gonna punch the Dakotas in the f@cking teeth. Let’s go!!

Chesney in NE10: 44-16 (.733) Curran in NE10: 29-35 (.453) Curran 18 wins in last three year (6 per year) 3 vs non-D1 teams 1 vs team with winning record (HC in 2021) 14 against teams with a combined record of 46-104 (.307) Unless he’s bringing in Chip Kelly to be his OC, this is an extremely disappointing hire. I’ll say this about this poster. It’s the same guy who supported Nelson over and over again on the hoop site. Granted - none of us know how Curran will do but this voice of reason is beyond flawed.

DHarry; I think HCDC will be a home run hire. New heights.

Not that it matters, but driving back from the beach earlier, Molly my chocolate lab and I heard on the Sports Hub radio 98.5 that Dan Curran was hired at HC....you almost nevah hear news about college football on Boston sports radio.

Anyone else remember the negative and/or skeptical posts when FHCBC was named. He was not D1, he did not knoiw how to recruit FCS talent, HC had made a mistake? How did he turn out? Well, we now have our coach for 2024. Let's wait at least until: 1. he assembles his coaching staff 2. he meets with his players and recruits 3. he and his staff start running practices 4. his team actually plays a game.
No decision can be better than the information on which it is based...and that means on all information, not just selected points. Let's post opinions, certainly. However, at this point we really know so little that any final judgement lies in the future, IMHO. Let's see what develops under Coach Curran. GO CROSS GO

Sure - Syracuse I get. There was smoke there. But are we going to post every job that opens. If there is anything concrete then let’s entertain it.

And I came back and said - There is now smoke around JMU. Which you conveniently forgot - because it doesn’t fit your narrative.
I’m simply drawing attention to the fact that your track record on identifying a good coach vs a poor choice is flawed based on your most recent hoop posts

I’m simply drawing attention to the fact that your track record on identifying a good coach vs a poor choice is flawed based on your most recent hoop posts My point all along on Nelson was that he deserved time to turn around a program where the previous head coach was totally negligent and his arrival was followed by COVID + the transfer portal. The new coach is getting exponentially more rope than Nelson ever had. It all doesn’t matter though because the program is a dumpster fire. If we want to cross sports, the Curran resume & hire reminds me of when Milan Brown was hired. Like Curran, Milan had a lot of head coaching years on his resume and those records told us exactly what he was - not good enough. And he was hired by an AD who totally over-indexed on head coaching experience in the search process.
