I saw the 3 point shot, the shooter land inside the arc and Singleton come down on his foot there - after the shot. I still can't figure why he got 3 shots instead of the 2 he should have been awarded. Yes, if the ref thought he put his foot out there to have Singleton land on it he could have been called for an offensive foul...that was not their interpretation. no, the referees were correct in awarding him three shots. The only thing that matters is where his feet are when he leaves the court. It is irrelevant where he lands in terms of the number of FTs. I am not sure why the color man started talking about one foot having landed inside the arc, since that did not matter at all as far as how many shots should be awarded. Someone might want to send him a copy of the rulebook. I thought that what actually matters is whether he was fouled in the act of shooting. He was not. The shot was over and IMO he was clearly fouled after the shot.

The other interesting foul was Batchelder, trying to get up after slipping; bumping into Kenney and propelling Caleb into a guy attempting a three.
At least that's what it looked like to me, watched the replay twice. The announcers definitely didn't know.

I did not see the play but the judgement is - did the shooter jump into the defender or did the defender move into the landing area of the shooter. I'd bet 99 tiimes out of 100 the call goes in favor of the shooter.

Sorry, but this is just awful D1 basketball... Speaking of awful D1 basketball, Providence had 16 points with 16 minutes left in the game. I believe they were something like 4-33 from the floor until then. They got hot after that and scored 50 points total in their loss to Villanova.

A friend, who is a rabid PC grad and fan, turned it off, saying he has seen almost 1000 PC games and this was the worst. it was bad on both sides, but worse for PC

I kept fast-forwarding my recording as it was late at night, trying to get to a point in the game that was interesting. Couldn't find one.
Did notice that PC had 16 at the half and didn't score prior to the under-16 break. Incredible.
I think the UConn game took a lot out of PC- it was incredibly physical. PC had a good chance to knock off UConn if they didn't emulate Holy Cross from the free throw line. Had a lot of attempts and a lot of misses.
Also, PC's missing Bryce Hopkins, tore up his knee a couple weeks ago.

When will Octave be back ? The sooner the better as HC enters the hardest stretch of the conference schedule. My guess is only the doctors/trainers know. Even they might not know. Sometimes it's hard to predict healing time. In mid December, the thought was that Montgomery would be back by the start of conference play, and we all know that didn't happen. Even if someone knowledgeable gave us a projected return date for Octave, I would not consider it etched in stone

Obliques (I read that somewhere for Joe) are more common in baseball and frequently take weeks or months.

Obliques (I read that somewhere for Joe) are more common in baseball and frequently take weeks or months. Joe mentioned oblique to some fans after the game. He seemed cheerful, but in some pain

Oblique injuries in baseball normally come about as a result of an awkward or powerful swing of the bat.
What I thought I saw of the Octave injury seemed to be the result of contact with the opposing player rather than the baseball extensive "strain" injury.
Perhaps the injury is more of a contusion nature and may heal sooner than we think.
