Some would call him a “Youngster” 😊 Leone was almost certainly the worst coach in patriot league history. In his five years in the PL, LC had a league record of 15-53, with many of the wins over an equally weak army team. In his final season, before getting fired, LC was winless in the patriot league and 1–27 overall, having managed to beat a weak Columbia team early in the year. unfortunately he is no better as a color man than he was as a coach. He is never prepared and doesn’t seem to understand the game very well at all. Unfortunately, his announcing partner is no better. HC played them OOC the year before the league started. 64-62 HC win. They gave HC fits running a Princeton-style offense, perhaps inherited from his predecessor, Butch Van Breda Kolff. HC had a very good team that year, 24-6, NIT bid. Therefore, I was surprised when they were so weak his last 4-5 years.

Just tuned in. I like the "Sunshine Boys" broadcast team at Lafayette. They were terrible, had no clue what was going on. Early in the first half one of them goes "With Octave inactive tonight" while he was shooting a three and there was about 10-15 seconds of dead air after that like they were confused to why he was playing. Not that hard to set up a preproduction call with the oppositions coach.

And then there was the awkward silence by Leone (the color guy), who said that it was a good growth opportunity with Octave sidelined for some of the younger guards…but couldn’t name any of these guards.

Yeah, I commented when I just tuned into the replay and saw the two older gents enjoying themselves together, which I liked. Bob Fouracre did a better job by himself than these two on actually announcing the game. He did it on radio with no video and you felt like you were at the game. Now there is either a two or three person announcing team plus full video. Maybe the radio guys had it easier as listeners couldn't see any mistakes they were making.
