I agree with Crosser's comments, particularly "It was good to see KC look for offensive opportunities a little more than he has been". In another thread I presented some data on "FGA/40 Minutes" showing KC was pretty low on that list, taking fewer than 8 shots per 40 minutes, a very low level. Looking at the number of shots KC has attempted in each game this season, regardless of the number of minutes he played, we can see that last night was the first time this season that KC has had 10 field goal attempts in a game. He has taken 9 once and 8 three times. In contract, Robert Champion, our principal shooter, has taken 10+ shots in 13 games. Additional key benefits of having KC capitalize on offensive opportunities more often are that (A) KC is adept at drawing fouls when he shoots, or more likely when he drives to the basket and (B) he's an excellent foul shooter. In the 5 games where KC has taken 8 or more field goal attempts he has gone 3-4, 3-4, 5-6, 5-6, and 9-10 (last night) from the free throw line, averaging, conveniently, exactly 5-6 per game. In the 13 games where he has taken 7 or fewer shots KC is 31-42, or 2.4 for 3.2 per game. KC is ranked #53 among all D-1 players in "free throw rate" and his .778 free throw percentage is excellent. I do understand that getting more shots for KC is not as simple as pushing a button--player needs to get the ball, get open, be able to get off the shot, etc.

Much thanks for that link 13.
Played a round with him and Blaney at an alum event many years ago. At 6'8" he naturally had a big ark swing and hit the pill a mile. Nice to get updated on his current whereabouts.
I caddied for him at Worcester CC the summer before I started freshman year at HC. Really nice guy and really good golfer.

With 19 points last night Malachi Alexander moved off his tie with Marty Halsey and passed Brian Reale on the all-time scoring list. In his next game MA can pass Rick Mashburn, Ryan Serravalle, and Justin Burrell and, if he can get 19 points again, tie Kevin Greaney in 32nd place Mashburn was at the Bucknell game...Sat courtside across from the Bison's bench.

At this point we know nothing about his playing ability as he's been hurt since his senior year in high school. True, we know nothing. However the coaches who have seen him last season and the off season when he was healthy may know.

Does Perkins have to apply for redshirt status this year or can he petition for a fifth year at a later date, think I would rather know if he's going to be a contributor before committing another scholarship year to him. At this point we know nothing about his playing ability as he's been hurt since his senior year in high school. A player can petition for a medical hardship waiver at any time and get the medical justification approved. . However just getting granted the hardship waiver does not mean the Holy Cross is committed to giving him a scholarship for a fifth year. They can make that decision at any time, although they would have to make sure there was a scholarship available and that the decision was made early enough that his academic path was not affected. The other issue is that there has to be an academic reason, approved by the league, for him to return for a fifth year. That is normally not a high hurdle however.

So theoretically Perkins can apply and be granted a hardship waiver this season , play next year and then staff can evaluate whether they want to tie up the scholarship for a fifth year and if they do can adjust class schedule over last two years to accommodate the academic requirements.

When you consider the losses the team will have after this year, they can surely use Perkins next year. He looked decent in the limited time he played last year, a lot of raw talent who kind of reminded me of MM when he was a frosh. The boys played pretty well yesterday, the best they've shown since the start of the PL portion of the season. PBen is improving every time out, and really looks comfortable on the court. I could not help but think that the new Fr.K patch on their uniforms had something to do with their better play last night. . . .

Just as he can evaluate whether returning for a fifth year is something he wants to do.

I believe he is better than his competition. If healthy he will play.

missed the game last night but sounds like an outstanding performance!
It was the most pleased I've been to see an hc box score in recent memory when I saw that at had 7 assists, just one turnover, 4 steals, and only 3 shots attempted. Well done, at! This team would be at an entirely different level if he could transform his game into an effective creator and distributor (like he seems to have done last night) for this stretch run of his senior season. We won't lose many games in the league if he produces the way he did last night. Can those who watched the game comment on whether at's assists were of the "create" drive and dish variety (he has the skill set to do this) or more perimeter oriented when guys knocked down shots?
As for benzan, I agree with ky that he has an absolutely uncanny for his size and speed to finish on drives to the hole. It's not like he's lighting fast, he just has an incredible knack of finishing. He protects the ball exceptionally well, takes clever angles to the tin, and uses both hands seemingly equally well.
We're pretty strong at 3-5 spots, and if our interchangeable guards play the way they did last night, I think we'll be In business and I will stick to my 12-6 pl record and top 4 in the pl prediction.
p.s. - in addition to the fantastic percentage of assisted baskets on the offensive end, 13 steals as a team last night is excellent. I love how active we have been defensively and how many turnovers we have been forcing.

AT's assists were varied 2 were on underneath out of bound plays for KC close in shots 2-3 (probably 3) were on UCLA high post back cuts for layups, 2 to PB, 1 to MZ I do not remember if any were of the create, drive and dish kind the box score has him as 1-3, all threes i recall one early drive that was blocked do not know why that was not counted as a shot

In addition to his 4 steals, AT had many deflections which disrupted their offense, both in our 1-3-1 and the match up

AT was so active against Laffy that, at times, it looked like there were two of him out there.

I now see AT doing what PB has also done - drive down or near the lane, then purposely jump out of bounds and pass to RC or MA or KC across court on the perimeter for an open shot. It is high risk, but is has worked for an open shot more often than it has failed.

On one, the ref made AT move to a spot and warned him not to travel.
