Yes but was WLax a D-1 sport at HC at the time? I should have been more specific. Women arrived at HC in 1972 and sports like WBB progressed through the ranks of D-3/2 before playing a D-1 schedule. I just can't recall what status they were in 1980 and think Lacrosse might have been a little behind BB.

Eleven straight against anyone is a feat. But when a Belichick coaches in Msssachusetts, great things can happen. I hope that family has another dynasty in them.

Beachbound, If AU is a part of "the iron of the league" perhaps HC is better than some think.

Sorry, I meant after American. The next 4 are Navy, Lehigh, Army and Loyola. Going 1-3 would be impressive. Really good to see the women taking care of the teams they should beat.

What is behind the resurgence of WLAX at HC? Has the scholarship total increased or more money to get quality assistant coaches? Meanwhile, the men's team is in a downward spiral.

It is good to see. Recruiting is stronger and they already have 9 verbal commits from high school juniors. My daughter who just went through the recruiting process, and knows a lot more than me, said they got some good players and two girls from her club program are matriculating to HC this fall.

Wlax has three coaches and one director of operations so if HC isn't spending money on scholarships they are on staff. I think they need and do have a few scholarships however because the PL is a strong lax league. Nice to see HC stick with Coach Belichick while she was building the program.

9-3 #17 Navy faces 9-2 Holy Cross Saturday. If HC wins we should be ranked. Even WBB wasn't ranked. Nice to be in a strong Lax league. Keep winning and help lead HC out of the President's Cup cellar.

Wednesday #4 BC hosts undefeated Yale. A couple of interesting points. BC is nationally ranked in WLax but according to their website they do not offer MLax. WLax plays early season games inside the Fish Field house with no spectators allowed. No room I assume.
The two teams that beat HC, Bryant and Stanford have good winning records losing mostly to ranked teams. The Crusaders are playing very well.

They beat PC, BC, Northeastern and Vermont along with D3 teams like Wellesley, Mount Holyoke and Conn. The only loss was to Plymouth State. Three years later they went 0-13.

Three years later they went 0-13. Those were fast changing times for women's college sports. Somehow HC didn't keep up in this sport in those years. Full Scholarship WBB had quite the dynasty under Togo and then BG until they didn't. It's too bad that HC didn't have the funds to support scholarships and a healthy recruiting budget in more sports and/or more admissions flexibility for good athletes in all sports. Often in the minor sports HC had a budget that supported salaries for a first time head coach but not the ability to hire a veteran like Coach Curran, Paulsen or Magarity in the scholarship sports.
