Massey picks the game as 98-55. a 43 point spread. He says Iowa has a 98% chance for the win. No shock there. HC is playing with house money...GO CROSS GO.

From the Iowa game information page (Have you ever imagined an HC game would have a warning about 'ticket scammers'):
The UI Athletic Ticket Office is anticipating high demand and fraudulent ticket activity for the game. Fans should be aware of potential scams and always purchase from a guaranteed source. Every Hawkeye home game ticket sold through the UI Athletic Ticket Office and on SeatGeek is verified and trusted. Be aware of ticket and merchandise scams. Read more about how to stay safe from scammers.

I’m struggling to see how we avoid a very one-sided and ‘hard to watch’ game. Those sorts of exhibitions don’t benefit either team (nor the fans nor the networks). I’m assuming betting lines have a baked-in assumption the dogs may be called off very early and Iowa reins in their offense and empties the bench. Massey may not, hence the 43 point spread. . These are the sorts of matchups folks cite when debating if the women’s March Madness field is double the size it should be.

NOw of course most of the upsets that happen are by closer seeds, but the studio announcers said that there were 14 first round upsets total the last two seasons So I do not think that reducing the number of teams is needed HC would likely not be participating if the field had been reduced. I would not want to take away this experience from Our women, regardless of tomorrow’s score

I have now heard several team members say they are excited and are looking forward to their game with Iowa. I agree they should be able to have that opportunity. Leave the tournament the way it is.
Now as to the play of our "third team" members at the end of the game. Their defense was not bad at all, that is a plus. However, they do need to work on their offense for next year.

I don’t disagree Rob, but that crew has rarely played in a game together and it showed

This trip is great motivation to work on their games between seasons and get back to the Dance next year. With continued PL parity, the best coached teams have an edge in the PLT.

Somehow, no matter by how much they lose, when our players are practicing medicine or working as a bank vice president or coaching their sons' rec teams, people will be more interested in a game against Caitlin Clark in front of 15,000 than an overtime win in an early January in the PL.
All of us imagined taking the final shot, smacking a walk off home run, rushing for the winning touchdown, etc. growing up. These women wanted to play in this game ---although they may have imagined it was going to be at Gampel.

Playing on ABC TV in nationally televised game? WIN Competing against the most impactful player in this era on national TV? WIN Any HC team on national TV? WIN Recruiting impact? WIN Win or lose it's the most fun and memorable experience a PL player could hope for. WIN Ability to highlight HC academic profile on national TV? WIN Getting beat by one of the top teams in the country? DOESN'T REALLY MATTER
This is an amazing experience for the team. Let's root for the them win/lose/draw and share in their fun. It's all watchable no matter how it plays out.

Father Markey is our Sister (can't remember her name) from Loyola of Chicago. He played with Cousy and Heinsohn then chose the Jesuits over the NBA. Hope he is healthy and there.

How much of HC's legacy and academic profile will the SID rep with the team feed to ABC ? including some of the majors our players are carrying. I certainly hope so

After twenty Clark anecdotes they will glance at the HC notes. HC will still get good PR and our people will have the booth loaded for bear.

The worst 16-1 women's matchup I tried to watch was when St Francis took on UConn a few years ago. For some (very very) strange reason St. Francis decided to run their usual fast- paced offense. 55 UConn points later the first quarter (!) ended. None of the St. Francis women looked happy to take the court in the second quarter. UConn won by 85...I think they lost in the final four that year.

No. You have the wrong year. The 2015 St Francis (Brooklyn) 16 v 1 beatdown by UConn was comparatively close at 89-33 The one I referenced was the 2018 St Francis (PA) 16 v 1 beatdown by UConn and was 140 - 52 and was 55-19 at the end of the FIRST QUARTER
