Nice event during today's Celtics game. Several sincere and emotional mentions of Tommy Heinsohn. Did raise one question, however. Didn't he do some games with Bob Cousy? Didn't hear Bob's name mentioned, never mind an audio or video tribute (there were a few from people that weren't at the ceremony). I think they had " 3 in the booth " often...

Most on Rick Barry after Barry complained about a call: "He's been in the league 10 years...and according to him, never committed a foul!".

"Roughhouse Rudy" La Russo - Johnny Most. Preferred Marty Glickman(Swish) & Marv Albert. IMHO, NY wins the announcer comparison by a mile. However the Celts won the games. They were in in the stratosphere. Cousy, Sharman, KC, Sam, Tommy, Jim Loscutoff, Bailey Howell, and the incomparable Bill Russell(Gene Conley bench). And, Havlicek steals the ball. Red Auerbach was the best coach/gm in the history of the NBA. Are you kidding me? I saw a bio on Marty Glickman. Amongst other things, did a Friday night telecast of local NY high school football games (that after he got somewhat famous, didn't need to keep doing)....simply because he loved doing them. Great man and great athlete.

Was it Bob Fouracre sho started "tickled the twines for two" when someone made a basket? I used this a number of times with my sons when I was coaching their basketball teams, and got a lot of eye rolls.

Great man and great athlete. If memory serves he did Saturday high school football games or maybe it was the Iona Prep- New Rochelle HS game.He lived in New Rochelle. Met him as a teen w/other teens at the Rose Hill Gym. He was incredibly responsive & gracious. Swish.

First Mike Gorman with the Celtics and then days later Jack Edwards with the Bruins. There will be several new voices in the Garden broadcast booth next year.

I believe Marty Glickman was a member of the US Olympic men's relay with Jesse Owens in Berlin in 1936. He ran in the preliminary heat, but he and a fellow Jewish teammate, Sam Stoller, were replaced in the final (the medal race) by Jesse Owens and Ralph Metcalf who then won the gold medal. The Germans had protested behind the scenes to the American Olympic Committee about the Jewish athletes and the US Committee (under Avery Brundage - known to be anti-semetic) knuckled under by relpacing the two Jewish runners. I enjoyed many of his IONA vs NEW ROCHELLE high school football broadcasts (Channel 11 in NYC if I remember correctly).
