As I am sure EFG72 already knows and/or any Xavier high school grad classmates of his know, former president Michael McFarland has been assigned to the Campion Center in Westin.
He will head up the Jesuit community there with about 70 Jesuits of which about 50 are there for medical reasons.
He says that he hopes he can have a closer connection with Holy Cross now that he will be more proximate to the College.
I had heard (misheard?) that he was going to “Campion House” and thought that he might be heading back to HC to replace Tim O’Brien but he clarified for me what his new assignment is. He seems very happy with heading back to Campion where he did some novice work 50+/- years ago and is friends with so many there.
Congrats and good luck, Fr. McFarland!

Speaking of Tim O'Brien, S.J. (a truly wonderful person!), I never miss a chance to give him just a wee bit of a hard time.
If you've seen the video of Friday's commencement, you will see that Tim was wearing a biretta with a red pom-pom looking flourish.
So, when I saw him afterwards, I apologized that I had not known that he had gotten promoted to bishop, or at least monsignor. He laughed and explained it was part of his doctoral regalia. (I knew that)
Only Tim and my current pastor have I seen wear a biretta in probably the last 40 years. For different reasons.
As for Tim's, here's a definition:

He'll be back is my prediction.
I think I posted previously that I was told that we have 3 "young" Jesuits (i.e. under 50 years old) heading to Holy Cross.
I am also predicting that Tim O'Brien is a future Holy Cross president as he is young enough to be the right age whenever Vince leaves (which we all hope is not soon). Would be nice to have another president who is an alum . . . . and a Jesuit. That'd be a "two-fer" as far as I'm concerned. That doesn't even take into account that he was his Class valedictorian ("three-fer?").

Certainly not now, but ask him in 10 +/- years.
