Testing my always suspect memory, I believe that years ago I saw it in a glass case in Dinand Library. Even if my memory is correct, might not be there anymore and possibly in the archives for protection.

Probably a good idea. I would not want it to go the way of "the Bell."

Yes to the above and here's the rest of the story About 15yrs ago, the medal was displayed in Hogan Ballroom for the annual O'Callahan Society Homecoming dinner. Mark Savolis '72, HC's head archivist, insisted on using a heavy locked glass case & keeping the medal 'in his custody'*. The day before, NROTC mids the moved empty case from the library to the ballroom. Mark attended the dinner, brought the medal & retrieved it at the end of the evening. The following year Mark could not attend the dinner. At his suggestion the medal display was set up in Dinand as described above during Homecoming weekend. It has not been repeated. *According to Mark, his predecessor, Fr Nelligan told him that Fr O'Callahan did not want the medal displayed. (20 yrs +/- earlier, this may have been an issue when the crew of Fr O'Callahan's ship held a reunion on campus) There are other stories about other Fr O'Callahan artifacts on campus. They still may be Navy property. A legacy of Fr O'Callahan; at least 2 family members of his Navy shipmates have directed children & grandchildren to Holy Cross
