I came here to say that. I was also irked at the Go Celts Go in the coach's email. Who gives a crap about the Celtics. Want to get away from the Irish NE bias and move to a nationally-recognized brand? Small steps, but they all matter and add up. But it did add a segue to point out that only 18 percent of basketball alums donate to the CAF Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Good begets good.

I would hope that someone in the athletics department does a survey of basketball alums to ask them why they don't donate to the program. I have a couple of theories but will keep them to myself.

My guess is that there are almost as many reasons as non-givers. Here are two theories that I won't be as polite as sader1970 and will throw out there. - For students in general, if you attend HC for two years and leave, you are part of the alumni. This is a recent phenomenon, but in the last 10 years I can think of 13 players who were on the team for two years and did not graduate from HC. They are probably in that 82 percent but don't want to donate to a school they left - Unlike DJ Hart, most walk on's don't stay with the team for four years. Lots of work with little reward. One year walk on's are probably part of the 82 percent, but some might not feel the connection to the team as four year participants

Back to the topic of the thread
Has anybody gone by a practice?
I have heard but not seen, so these comments are second-hand.
Caleb is doing an excellent job of leading the team and is working on his offensive game. The freshmen are more than holding their own and are a very talented group The team is working and learning every day
It could be an exciting six weeks in the gym, and if anybody has seen practices live or plans to stop by, their reactions would be of interest.
Thanks

Thanks I have heard it said the staff is pretty cool about opening the doors if people ask. It was said in the last video that the guys are lifting early AM. That suggests afternoon practices to me. If I had an actual time, I might randomly swing by and see if the door was unlocked. Not likely to wander up to without a ball park of when practice actually was

I would call in advance to the Basketball office and check with the DOBO, Colin Richey, before a random swing by to ensure you are not wasting your time. Until the floor is finished in the Arena, practices for possibly three teams M and W BB and Volleyball will be in Blaney Gym. Also certain practices may be closed for viewing.

About next year's team.....I really don't think scoring is going to be a big problem - Caleb is rock solid doing his thing around the basket on a consistent basis; between Nugent, Batch and the newbies, I think long distance shooting should be ok; and I'm hoping Boston puts a lot of guys in better positions to score. But - as of now I am really concerned with rebounding. Say what you want about Octave, Bo and Louth, but they had mature bodies and did more than their share of the rebounding. It's not fair to expect Caleb to grab 25 a game; who is going to step up to help? And then there is that m2m D..........

Fine observations, NAD I believe that gang rebounding will most likely prevail. Caleb and his backups, Ryan /Hare will be the primary rebounders. Nugent and whoever else plays the 4 will have to be major contributors. New candidates for the 4 could be Faroah and Richard, both of whom had good rebounding numbers in previous schools. It also is promising that our new wings, Green and Warren, had solid rebounding stats and are at least somewhat taller than Bo or Joe. The all important defense should be stronger with greater size, length and depth overall Boston shows real promise as the best pure point at both ends that we have had in some time. The rest is up to the coaching.

I'm looking at the 4/5 as almost interchangeable this season in particular. To your point about gang-reb ounding, unless Ryan has really improved his mobility and endurance or Hare is a ready now prospect it may be more combinations of the Nugent/Feroah or if you think Richard is a college 4, him, also with Caleb. Richard, Feroah, and Nugent also have the ability to play the 3. Im guessing CP will try all those guys at both and maybe Warren also as a 3. I think Batch and the soph guards will stay guards. Who is the backup point is a good question for me. Warren, Williams, Batch? Is there any need for Green to have to see action as a 3 vs a 2? Certainly a lot more options and hope this year. Thanks for getting thread back on track.

NAD,
I think we will be much improved offensively and defensively next year, and if needed, we will rebound by committee. Offensively I think we will be a better passing team, have more perimeter shooting options, and be better at attacking the rim and offensive rebounding.
As well as Green scores and shoots, Richards might shoot a better percentage from three, while Feroah and Hare will be welcome additions up front.
Boston is doing what he does and makes us better at both ends.
We will play better basketball and our OOC and PL records will improve.
Warren might be a bigger and longer version of Octave around the basket, and from film only, is a much more willing defender.
A point of focus will be individual and team defense, with attention and emphasis placed on communication. My bet is if you defend you play. If not, playing time will be limited.

Thanks for getting thread back on track. In almost all college , and most pro, offenses, the two and the three positions are basically interchangeable and are called wings. The issue may come on defense depending on the sizes of each team and their opponents’ sizes at those two positions As far as backup point, most of Williams’ minutes last season came at the point, so he seems to be the most logical choice. To me, Warren and Green are wings, either a 2 or 3.

Floor being redone? Hope the Commonwealth is being shtcanned! The Mass. outline was too big and too brown. Apparently the college felt a need to identify where they are located because of cases of confusion. A less intrusive method would be to create a background in the media/interview room that states "College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, Massachusetts" on it along with the (original) logo and as many sponsor names as they can sell.

I don’t believe the college put MA on the floor because of cases of confusion. I think their media team hired a consultant who provided numerous options and they chose that one not really thinking it through hard enough. Live and learn.

Hope you all won't be too disappointed if the center court at the Hart looks the same when they are done.

A lot of celebs say "hello Boston" when they're performing at the DCU Center but let's not go in that direction.

Hope you all won't be too disappointed if the center court at the Hart looks the same when they are done. Will be more than disappointed, perhaps outrageously ticked The dumbest thing I have ever seen, but glad to see we are changing the floor design. The map of Mass was the worst floor and very embarrassing. Fingers crossed we are being creative and will see the return of the Crusader✝️✝️✝️

There must be a spy on this board who could sneak a peek, and report back to the rest of us.
Could we allow that such a service earns said sleuth a handful of excused misses once the PL Football pick 'ems begin?
