Cannot be too many veterans of that most important event, but God’s blessings on those who are still with us.

They gave their lives so we could be free. Those of us of a certain generation knew many -family members & friends of family - who served our country in WWII. Many of us lost family in the war. It hurt. I am eternally grateful for their service and sacrifice. And, I do pray for them.

As I write this I'm in the UK, where there is extensive coverage of the D-Day anniversary. My father served on convoys to Russia during WW II and I had an uncle who was on a Navy sub that sank six Japanese ships. What a moving day today is.

An excellent and moving piece on NPR News Hour last evening.
