And the Celtics once again have more championships than the Lakers
On a side note, I always thought it strange that the Lakers claimed 17championships, but didn't get around to hanging banners for five of them until about 2 years ago. (About 20 years ago I think they did hang a single banner for the championships won in Minneapolis). The first Laker superstar got his number retired last year

Mikan had his number retired near the beginning of last season. After the Lakers won in the 2020, I think they realized if they embraced their Minneapolis heritage they would be tied for the most championships

There is a wonderful article in The Athletic today on Mikan, who would have been100 today. Sorry, it is blocked. IMO the Minneapolis championships should count. As in baseball when franchises move, the records count all the previous locations.

I know there are NY fans on this board, and maybe LA fans, but as someone who's been a diehard Celtics fan for over 60 years this is a wonderful day.

Where things get very confusing is with franchises like the Washington Senators becoming the Minnesota Twins but being immediately replaced in DC by an expansion team that takes the name Senators. Similar thing happened when Cleveland Browns became the Baltimore Ravens then returned as an expansion team a few years later…. I think I have the history correct…

Just to have something, the Ravens sometimes have old Baltimore Colts on old timers day

(I think the answer is neither)

Finally after 3 tries my prediction pans out. Hail to the victors, the Boston Celtics. Is this the beginning of another Celtics dynasty? Area of concern is the front court with an elderly Al Horford and a brittle Porzingis. Maybe, the Celts should offer a ton of money to pilfer the Knicks free agent center, name(?) not Mitchell Robinson. He would be a perfect fit. Knicks junkies can hope James Dolan sells the Knicks to concentrate on his wildly popular Vegas Sphere. Or, better yet Dolan should sell the Knicks and buy the Celtics. Maybe I ought to take that back. We know the great Bob Cousy watched & celebrated the Celts win. We love ya', Cooz!

The only way for them to add a player at more than the minimum salary is via a trade of similar salaries. I am not a big Celtics fan, but I was happy to see Bucknellians Charles Lee and DJ McCleay, both Boston coaches this year, earn a championship ring. It is the second one for Charles Lee.
