I'd like to see HC buy Rotmans and turn it into a 1)Crusader Sports Museum, and 2)some sort of football game day experience venue (haven't thought this part out). Maybe Crossports could lease some office space. A Holy Cross Sports Museum is strongly being considered and in the preliminary planning stages in the Hart Center as part of the Hall of Fame. I would expect to see it being constructed within the next five years once the money is raised. It will have exhibits as well as interactive displays featuring video such as Purple Reign and highlights of significant victories, thinking the 1988 Princeton game, etc.

You once again entirely miss the point. What was the thinking behind changing names? I would think Dutchmen pays homage to the founders like Friars does at Providence College but obviously there is another point of view. Mascots that are gender and ethnocentric may not reflect the current demographics of a college or university. Dutchmen at Union and Flying Dutchmen at Hofstra clearly do not reflect the current population. While Union original roots were from the Dutch Reform Church, Chartered in 1795, Union was the first non-denominational institution of higher education in the United States. Students enrolled at Union College in full-time Undergraduate programs are most commonly White Female (29.2%), followed by White Male (18.4%) and Hispanic or Latino Female (12.8%). As colleges and universities seek to attract students, mascot identity from an ethnocentric or religious standpoint is often viewed as a barrier in recruitment. For example, Elon University mascot, “The Fighting Christians” was changed to The Phoenix”, as that university decided that they should expand their student population from the southern Bible Belt to throughout the United States looking at students from Christian as well as non Christian denominations and demographics. As we have seen, there are certain exceptions to that viewpoint, namely the University of Notre Dame du Lac. The enrolled student population at University of Notre Dame is 62.5% White, 11.1% Hispanic or Latino, 4.94% Asian, 4.81% Two or More Races, 3.3% Black or African American, 0.183% American Indian or Alaska Native, and 0.114% Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islanders. At the point in the 21st Century when the demographics have changed regarding the ethnicity at Notre Dame, the mascot and iconography may be under review.

Performance this evening by the Wind Ensemble and Orchestra. The Holy Cross Wind Ensemble and Orchestra will team up to present "A Cinematic Odyssey" on Wednesday, February 28th, 2024, at 8pm in Luth Concert Hall. The ensembles will be performing film music from several iconic selections such as Star Wars, Jurassic Park and Pirates of the Caribbean. Emphasis will also be given to 'classical' music which has either inspired the film music industry or is otherwise used in modern day films. www.youtube.com/live/ODt-9udjwLw?si=WgZsxJ8kwlfk1Wk8

HCFC45, not doubting you heard the story, just wondering where in the Hart this incident occurred. On Saturday, I was sitting in a different location near where I believe could have been the two Women mentioned. During the playing of the anthems, I was looking at the video boards, and the teams. If the location was in back of the Navy bench, my vision would have been obscured. Otherwise, I did not hear or see the incident. If I did, I would have certainly would have called out the issue, and would have discussed it with several people immediately after the occurrence.
We can discuss offline.

There was some mention during the post game of Callie Wright singing the Canadian Anthem before the game. Possible that's what you're referring to? Hope that's available on the website. "Oh Canada" is a beautiful anthem. Rene Rancourt, retired Boston Garden anthem singer, sang both anthems before an HC hockey game at the Hart rink one time I believe. Unless I was in an alternate universe while attending the game, Callie was not a soloist for Oh Canada. The three national anthems, Ireland, 🇮🇪, Canada, 🇨🇦 and USA, 🇺🇸, were played with their respective national flag waving on the three video boards, and were without a vocalist.

Since this is still February, a month which the accomplishments are celebrated for a people who were purposely hidden or erased for the most part in textbooks and media until 70 years ago, here are a couple of facts about Lift Every Voice and Sing. If you are at the basketball game against Colgate on Wednesday, you will enjoy the rendition played.
Who originally sang Lift Every Voice and Sing? As part of a celebration of Abraham Lincoln's birthday on February 12, 1900, “Lift Every Voice and Sing” was first publicly performed by 500 school children at the Stanton School in Jacksonville, Florida. The school principal, James Weldon Johnson, wrote the words and Johnson's brother Rosamond set them to music.
Why is Lift Every Voice and Sing considered the black national anthem? In 1919, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) dubbed "Lift Every Voice and Sing" the "Negro national anthem", for its power in voicing a cry for liberation and affirmation for African American people.

I was at the game on Saturday. Prior to the start of the game, and after the recognition of the seniors for both schools,” Lift Every Voice and Sing” was played, followed by the Irish National Anthem, the Canadian National Anthem and the Star Spangled Banner. Each song had wonderful displays of the lyrics or the national flag. I was sitting above the HC team and did not see, hear or witness the incident described. I was in Hart early and stayed until the end of the game. If this occurred, it was not much of a flurry, and I give little credence to the tale. The game was certainly not delayed or interrupted. By the way, “Loft Every Voice and Sing” lyrics are displayed on the video board prior to the game. The song by James Weldon Johnson has wonderful lyrics and melody, and the rendition played at the Hart this month is very pleasant to listen. The lyrics can be found in the link below, and as you can see is non racial or political. poets.org/poem/lift-every-voice-and-singhttps://poets.org/poem/lift-every-voice-and-sing

I don't think that fans are going to line up for a trip to Montana. This one will! The HC softball team will be playing in Missoula Montana on March 7,8, and 9. Playing the Griz as well as a school on our future football schedule, Northern Illinois. Softball and Baseball schedules are far from Worcester this year with travel. Let’s hope HC performs well during these games and receives solid recognition regarding potential recruits. goholycross.com/sports/softball/schedulegoholycross.com/sports/baseball/schedule

While Scanlon was at bat in the 3rd, while swinging at a pitch, ball was off his left arm. Injury was to the extend he had to be removed from the game. HC trainer looked at the injury and determine the extent of the injury.

The announcers for game three just stated it is a game between the Ivy League and the Big 12.
On Friday one of them stated that Holy Cross was just outside of NYC.
Sheesh! The need a real update on the HC Bio.
They now got it correct with the intro of Sean Scanlon. Someone must have given them an update.
