GU has received design approval for the west stands, though my recollection of the plans when I looked at them last fall is that the stands were not extended at the north end of the west stands to reach the north endzone. As for demolishing the east (visitor) stands, I don't recall a mention of that. Georgetown has been working on converting the road that runs behind the east stands to a pedestrian passage, and to build a concourse of one story student life buildings to enliven the passage. See pdf p. 80, for a rendering of the passage with new student life concourse. See pdf p. 86 for current view of the passage looking north, east stands in the distance See pdf p. 87 for proposed view of the passage, and what appears to be brick-sided (new) east stands in the distance. I looked for new restrooms for the east side stands in the plans for the p. 80 / 87 concept, and saw none. georgetown.app.box.com/s/3roit3775pg1xxr6fifrern4i4x0n0nj^^^ This document also discusses the demolition of Yates -- whose condition has so deteriorated that it can't be economically rebuilt -- and how and where to replace Yates, and the effect of such on the very few playing fields remaining on campus. .

West stands will have increased seating, capacity 4,000.
East stands will be demolished and not replaced.
Apparently, field (turf) will be extended into the area where the east stands were. That will provide two practice fields, running east/west, but I don't think these will be full dimension fields.

And when they break ground the Patriot League should say Okay Georgetown you want to be in the Patriot League football you have to start playing our teams in basketball. Not all the teams every year just maybe a couple of times a year so that everyone gets a chance to play against the hoyas in basketball. Same goes for Fordham. Just a thought.

I know of at least 5 HS stadiums within about 35 minutes of Gtown that seat between 2 and 4,000 with plenty of parking.
Hoya hoops rents/plays off campus, would be better to do the same for football.

Georgetown undergrads are not allowed to have cars on campus, and if they brought cars would, in most instances, need to park them in a parking garage at some distance from campus, and at a hefty fee. GU has enough problem getting students to attend games now, even though there nearly all GU dorms are closer to the multi-sport field (now Cooper) than most HC dorms are to Fitton. One large GU dorm looms over the south endzone, and was used as the half-time GU locker room.
