Congrats to the softball team who ended a tough season with a win over Lehigh. The ladies will start next season on a one game winning streak (after 13 straight losses). The 4-3 win came against a good Lehigh pitcher, Christine Campbell. She had a record of 19-7 coming into this game.

rgs has to be commended for being the 'eternal optimist poster'. yes, yesterday's win was a good one against the league leader in lehigh. our senior pitcher, jennifer durham had a great career but had very little run support for her 4 years. not sure things look any better for next year as she was the winning pitcher in 7 of our 8 wins. all of the other pitchers had very tough years. our final record this year was 8-34.
i think adnp (if he has the time) might be taking a look at this program. some facts: = in 31 years of playing softball, there has been 'one' winning season (1998) = all time record is 380-906-5 (.296 %) - all time league record is 160-283 (.361 %)
i know very few (on campus or off) seem to care, but i think we should be doing better. i hope there's a plan in place, especially to bring in capable pitchers, which is the single most important position in softball.

Softball is about 90%+ based on pitching. The pitching motion does not tire the arm as it does in baseball. One good arm cam make a softball program. But, even as the eternal optimist, I do hope to see things get better at some point in my lifetime!

As ADNP has done in the past, my guess is major changes are coming. Results like this are no longer tolerated.

and the patriot league champ is boston u. (28-22 record) which won the tournament from the no.3 seed upsetting lehigh and army (bucknell was no.4). terriers play at la.-lafayette tonight on espnu at 7pm. at this level it's a major accomplishment to just win one game in the double elimination format.

Today: WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross director of athletics Nathan Pine announced today that Brian Claypool has resigned from his position as the College’s head softball coach.
“I would like to thank Coach Claypool for his efforts with our softball program and we wish him well in his future endeavors,” said Pine. “Holy Cross will commence a national search for our next head softball coach right away.”
Claypool served as the Crusaders’ head coach for nine seasons, from 2008-2016. During that time the team posted an overall record of 108-273 (.283 winning percentage), including a 60-114 mark in Patriot League play.

The news is not much of a surprise. I wonder where the next coach will be from? Will there be scholarship money available to help with the rebuilding?

"Holy Cross is a university with a renowned academic reputation." Such a good reputation that this college is sometimes mistaken for a university.
