Here are some of the stats from box score from the first game. I would also note that while we were spanked in this game almost 8 weeks ago, we are getting better (from losing to Navy 11-4 to beating them 11-7 in three weeks) and Loyola has had close losses to Bucknell (we beat) and BU (we lost in OT.) I know that this transitive property stuff doesn't mean much, but it gives us some hope. A win would be a huge upset, but stranger things have happened.

Watched the beginning of the 2nd half while we were down 4-1 but then scored to close the gap a bit to 4-2, then the bottom dropped out. Loyola just a much better team.

Do we give the same number of scholarships as LU?

LU players move without the ball much better than us. Did you notice the LIGHTS at their stadium?

HC looked to be everywhere on defense in the first period - but the sliding D does seem to take a toll. When HC's first goal was ruled off, it seemed to take a bit of steam away from the offense - clearly a step behind that of Loyola throughout the game. Then with the score 4-2 Loyola's offense got rolling and it was like the flood gates opened. Still this is a much improved team over the last few seasons and I expect to see that improvement continue next year.
Thanks to the team, especially the seniors, for their efforts throughout the year!

Do we give the same number of scholarships as LU? No. HC spends the least of any PL school on M's lacrosse, and second least of any PL school on women's lacrosse. (Those values are for 2015-16.) Loyola, Lehigh, and BostU spend twice as much as HC on men's lacrosse, while GU, for example spends more than 2x what HC spends on men's lacrosse. Most of that differential is scollie aid.

Approximate number of scholarships (spread over four classes): Loyola 12.6 Boston 12.6 Lehigh 12.6 Colgate 8-9 Holy Cross 4 Lafayette 4 Bucknell 0.25 Army 40+ admissions spots Navy 40+ admission spots Some of the lower ranked teams also give need-based aid. Bucknell, for example, has some athletic need-based aid that is given in a similar manner to the old PL football model. It is based on parental income and requires that a FAFSA form be filled out.

Didn't realize, Boston only playing the sport since they joined the PL. Watched some of Boston v Army, very physical. Not sure of the rules, but apparently swinging the sticks wildly at your opponent is ok

Just another illustration of how HC has cheated by shoving its resources towards several major sports and left most of the minors to twist in the wind. It's a smarmy policy, smacks of cheating. If HC can't afford to do otherwise, it should drop down a division and adopt a fairer policy, fairer to our players.

The scollie amount is up 4 times what it use to be. We might be last in the PL on funding but we have put in 600k per year if not more since 3 years ago. The expectation is the program will put more money in and from the looks of things we have done a good job hitting the marks on playoffs and wins for the last couple of years. BU also does not have a football program anymore. They put their money into Hockey first of course and now Lacrosse. BU figured out that having a Football program was just a waste of money. I agree with that. Football uses a lot of scholarships that could be better used in lacrosse. Like hockey, lacrosse its a northeast, Canandian and midwest sport, we can thrive on that. And as a smaller college, we can be successful for 1 million plus a year. We were on CBS, we can see more time in the years to come on TV and that good bang for your buck.

I agree with hccape. ADNP did not spend megamillions (more than the Maize and Blue spent) for what is in essence, an indoor lacrosse field and then squeeze M/W lacrosse financially. But similar to return of scollies to football, the scollies are phased in over a period of years; not all at once. I would expect a significant bump in scollie aid for M/W lacrosse going forward. .

PP, Will we be matching the other schools with full complement of scholarships? Or will we handicap our teams, coaches and players with something less?

don't feel bad about our 13-3 loss as it appears loyola is ready for the postseason after whipping army today in the finals 13-4. this is a one-bid league this year.

Loyola just shut down Army's offense again. considering our Defense gave Loyola fits in the first half, we played better in my eyes. Just cant keep that up over a whole game without offensive possessions. Lets see what JL can do with the offense next year and what it will look like. Interesting to listen to the announcers talking about Loyola's sport is lacrosse and what that looks like. Small school, excelling in a sport that is what Maryland is known for. I feel the same about HC. 8-12 scholarships, some good assistant coaches and we should be a premier school for this sport. So we are at 1.2 million annually for this sport. BU built a program in 4 years with this commitment. We already have incredible facilities have to take advantage to that
