Exposed? The book with his chapter is on display at Holy Cross Shhh. According to bringbackcaro, the professor was teaching this while 'nobody knew' - must have been a very small class! No. I’m sure he wrote this stuff. What I’m saying is that the only reason the author of the Fenway Review could have logically discovered these old articles or whatever is if someone found found them. I’m suggesting that it was the Religious Stuirs prof who is faculty adviser to the review or someone else in the department. It’s beyond belief that someone didn’t leak this thing. I’m suggesting that the article was weaponized to hurt HC or to try to get rid of the prof. I suggest the first possibility would be someone close to the student or the student herself. If the later it’s obviouslky someone at the school who wants to get rid of the offending prof. Knowing some of the personality in this I’m guessing the later.

Again alum, if this professor was on record as saying the earth was created by God in six days; if he said anything critical of Islam; if he said that abortion is the government sponsored murder of millions; if he said that there are two genders only, male and female HE WOULD BE GONE irrespective of the celebrated intellectual freedom of faculty Do you really think that is untrue? Quoting oneself not great
But, PLEASE Alum, 'Nurple, Spenser answer the above.
Possibly if the professor did not have tenure they would be gone on creationism (this is just bad science), I do not believe so on the other subjects. I do think it differs if they are espousing these views versus teaching them in coursework to students.

I would like to hear more from Ms Reilly

I would like to hear from Professor Liew, Religious Studies chair Fr. Reiser, Dean Frieje, Fr. Boroughs, and board chair John Mahoney.

In my opinion there is about .0001 percent chance the article was written to hurt HC. Although I've never had a substantive conversation with the author, I know the family and they are arguably the most purple family on the planet

I’ve spoken to three alums who know the family in the last 24 hours and they agree with me that it’s a possibility. I’m not saying to hurt the college per se. I’m saying that they are purple through and through but it’s not inconceivable that this was leaked in opposition to what they would think was the leftward drift of HC. As you know, they are extremely conservative. My thought is that this might be viewed as a way to put the college back on the right track.

The goofy and public crusader spectacle was just one example. Beyond that, is anyone alleging that the Professor's writings were a clever forgery?

I certainly don’t think that they were not written by the professor.

Good, I thought someone was suggesting she made the horribly offensive stuff up and was speculating as to why she made it up. (My vote is an April Fools Day prank if it turns out to be made up...some of that stuff is suspiciously over-the-top.)

You and 10,411 others (and counting). Goal was 10,000 when it was posted yesterday. I would not be associated with this organization. They have repeatedly waged online campaigns to try and stop Fr. James Martin's outreach to LGBT Catholics. www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2018/01/rev_james_martin_says_aggressive_online_protest_fo.htmlThe protest of Professor Liew's writing is valid and should be allowed and heard, but riding on the coattails of these types of groups flies in the face of Jesuit teaching.

Good, I thought someone was suggesting she made the horribly offensive stuff up and was speculating as to why she made it up. b Absolutely not. I would agree that they were an appropriate subject for the Fenwick Review. My real issue is how this article from what can only be described as an obscure publication made it into the public realm. Obviously I also am curious how these old remarks came to her attention. But I’m more concerned with the leaks.

Just guessing here, but these campus publications are sponsored by "CN" Collegiate Network which lists Coulter and Ingraham among their alumni and Intercollegiate Studies Institute, Educating for Liberty. I expect articles are read regularly by Breitbart

Which he has neither denied nor taken back. As far as I have heard. I don't think you mean the word 'leaks'.

Your theory is plausible, but I would say that, if true, it still doesn't fall under the category of trying to hurt HC. That is the theory I was originally responding to.

But the net effect of this does hurt HC. Let’s face it. Even though the whole Crusader controversy got some national attention the only people it really matters to are HC connected people. Soon forgotten by anyone other than us. This is something people are more likely to remember. And because of that and the fact that the original articles are so offensive to lots of people, HC is hurt by this whole controversy.

This is like blaming the NRA for the fact that the FBI and other authorities failed to do their job after receiving numerous warnings about pending mass homicide. Who hired and then passed muster on tenure re Benny....and were they aware of his published views?

That’s why I said earlier he wasn’t properly vetted when originally hired. And the NRA isn’t blameless, but we digress.

Don’t know either of those schools much. All I know is we are on the decline in many ways. Not sure about them. Benny is a huge embarrassment to a Catholic college. Not sure if they have an equivalent.

Is Benny Catholic? I don’t recall anything about drag kings in the catechism. Based on where he went to school and Father Borough’s statement, it does not appear he is. That’s not unusual. The New Testament professor, Phillips, was Protestant when I was a student 35 years ago

Is Benny Catholic? I don’t recall anything about drag kings in the catechism. Some of that 'queer theory" stuff sounds real cool in the faculty lounge and amongst the fellow travelers but when it hits the regular folks...well, not so much. Good thing we're not Villanova alums where we would be stuck rooting for our final four team and hoping to repeat as national champs. And watching our growing academic reputation to boot. Instead, we've got the shameful Professor Liew’s “Queering Closets and Perverting Desires: Cross-Examining John’s Engendering and Transgendering Word across Different Worlds,” . At this point we'd be far better off as the crusader-erasing laughingstock we were last month.
