This missive went out last night to the faithful. Given the die hard Crusaders, future Crusaders, and others who frequent these parts, I welcome sharing it here as well:
Fellow Crusaders,
Earlier this year, I passed the mantel of leadership of the Friends of Crusader Football to my friend and classmate Spenser Huston '83. He is doing a phenomenal job leading the charge which probably means I was a few years late in doing so but better late than never. As I told Spense when I did so, he can always count on my support and enthusiasm in pursuing our mission of "a commitment to excellence in helping Holy Cross Football win on and off the field." In that spirit of support and enthusiasm, I write to you today to highlight the following:
1. Almost all of our current and incoming Crusaders will be in Worcester this summer. As such, we are looking for some part-time employment opportunities for the troops from June 4th to the end of July. Anybody who knows of any potential opportunities, please share them with me. Your support is greatly appreciated. Thank you!!
2. In 6 weeks (June 18th), the Annual Golf Outing will be held at Hopkinton Country Club. This will be a sellout and a blowout event. I exhort those who have not attended previously to come back for this day. I guarantee that you will have a great time connecting with old friends, making new relationships, meeting Coach Chesney and staff, and a whole lot more including awarding Mark Cannon '77 with the 2018 Tom O' Brien 90-Wide Mentoring Award. Mark opened the door to Oracle a few years back and approximately 20 Crusaders are working there now thanks to his efforts. Winnnnnninnnng . . . . thank you Mark!!

If you cannot make the event -- or even if you can -- we GREATLY appreciate those who will support the day by any form of sponsorship. The dollars raised from the sponsorships are always the difference in taking a good day/event and making it a great one. THANK YOU!!

5. Later this month, we will be rolling out the 2018 edition of our Friends of Crusader Football 90-Wide Mentoring. To all our mentors, thank you. We know that a few mentors have had to step aside and we thank them for their efforts over these last number of years. We have also added the following Crusaders to our list of mentors and thank them for their support: Ryan McGinn '12, Patrick Restrepo '15, Ron Flauto '92, Mike Bernazanni '11. "Welcome to the 90-Wide, gentlemen, the life you change just might be your own!!" How do we win off the field? Check out the photo below of our fellow Crusader Jon Smith '14 in a recent business competition >>> Winnnnnnnnnninnnnng . . . congratulations Jon!!
6. I want to take this opportunity and encourage Crusaders everywhere to get on board and support the Crusaders under the leadership of our new Head Coach Bob Chesney. As the coach has stated so emphatically -- and he's right -- this is OUR program. As we all know, though, with ownership comes responsibility. Please support the efforts in giving of your time, talent, and/or treasure. If you have not yet given to the Crusader Athletics Fund/Gridiron Club, I'll make it easy on you and provide the ez pass to the site >> www.goholycross.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=210238219&DB_OEM_ID=33100&DB_OEM_ID=33100
I always enjoy signing off with the competitive words of encouragement, Let's Win!! Today though, I want to leave you with words to live by: "Ad Maiorem Dei Gloriam" . . . especially in this day and age when questions arise, let us not take these words of inspiration and motivation lightly. All praise, honor, glory, and respect goes to Him and all we do here is done in His Name.
