Patriot League has two teams (Navy, 8th seed) and Loyola (unseeded) still in. Unfortunately (for those of us who want to see the PL do as well as possible) they meet tomorrow. The winner will most likely play Maryland (the #1 seed) for a shot at the final four. A very good bracket is here: www.ncaa.com/interactive-bracket/lacrosse-women/d1BC (for those who care) wound up with a 4 seed and if they win (v Princeton) will face most likely face 5th -seed SBU (at BC) for a shot at the final four. Bad luck for BC as SBU is probably the strongest 5th seed in tournament history. Undefeated, ranked #1 in all the national polls the final 10 weeks of the season, strongest OOC in the country, done in purportedly by their weak league - SBU is ticked off.

Navy (PL) advances (19-15 over PL Loyola) to face #1 seed Maryland.
SBU annihilates UPenn (benched stars with 9 minutes left leading 18-2) to face 4th-seed BC (16-10 over Princeton) at BC.

PL's last representative in the tournament, Navy, loses to the 1 seed Maryland 17-15. Maryland now in the final four.
SBU (5 seed), playing without one of its stars and playing on the road at BC (4 seed), loses to BC in OT 12-11. BC hoping to improve on last year's runner-up finish.

Very nice to see a CAA victory over ACC. Apparently it is the first time a 'mid major' has captured the women's Div-1 lacrosse title.

However titles have been won in the past by UMass, Delaware, Temple, UNH, Harvard, and Princeton. Over the most recent 24 years, most titles have been won by Maryland and Northwestern.

I mistyped something I stole from our local paper (about JMU being the very first champion from CAA and first non major in quite a while) When you read the NCAA D-1 Women’s Lax Champions list going back 30 years it is all teams from the major conferences with two or three Ivies sprinkled in and Temple (!) in 1988. Kudos to JMU and the CAA
