Army goes to Raleigh regional as the 4 seed and faces no.1 NC State in their opener. Northeastern (In the same regional) had a great season squeaked into the tourney after losing the CAA championship game to UNC-Wilmington. Columbia (20-28 record) is the absolute last seed in the tourney (no. 64) and play at the overall no.1 Florida.
In addition to AWP, HC had three other tourney teams on our schedule, Oklahoma, Houston, UConn (our Northeastern series was frozen-out)

State was out of ACC tourney after just 2 games, but nonetheless #15. Strong win for AWP.

I believe this is the third consecutive year the PL Champion has won at least one game in the Regionals. Did NC State go with Nebraska's 2017 (stupid) strategy and pitch someone other than their ace in game 1?

With due respect, I don't think you follow NCAA tourney baseball closely enough. in the sub-regionals (this weekend's games) it is common, among the power conference favorites, not to pitch your no.1 in the first game. those teams have plenty of depth, and want to get into the winners bracket with a W on the second day (after their 1st game when they're heavy favorites).
Auburn saved their no.1, Casey Mize for Saturday in what they figured would be NC State. Unfortunately for AWP, after their upset win on Friday, they lost to Mize who is expected to be the no.1 pick overall in Monday's amateur draft.
Last year in Corvallis, Ore State did not pitch their no.1 against us in the Friday game. It's hardly a stupid strategy. If you inspect this weekend's box scores, you'll see the power conference favorites used their no.2 on Friday (with few exceptions), when they were matched up against much lower seeded teams
After Army's no.1 upset NC St, their no 2 and 3 lost badly to Auburn (12-1) and NC St again (10-1)`

No "sister Jeans" in college baseball, at least this year. All 8 teams from four of the five power conferences ,(no big 10)
