so the NCAA doesn't care about the bats in the summer leagues??? ? I don't think you grasp the premise of summer ball. The NCAA does not pay for summer league bats. The individual clubs with private ownership do.

The individual clubs with private ownership do. ..nor does it pay for them in regular season... I know that the summer leagues favor wood bats because of their use in the major leagues ...and apparently NCAA sanction of a summer league has nothing to do with the bats... or does it?

NCAA sanctioning of summer leagues has to do with maintaining eligibility to play NCAA baseball.

Yesterday the Cape Cod league was a topic for the announcers on the Yankee broadcast. They said the league was one of the strongest and spoke about how Justice sand other MLB stars gained experience there as college players.

I guess I should have asked this question 30+ years ago but are bats really all that expensive? I recognize that an aluminum bat will likely never break but, come on, how often does a bat break in high school or college? Then again, I probably haven't bought a bat in 30+ years for my sons and, like the Bush's not knowing the price of a gallon of milk, I probably don't know the price of a bat has probably skyrocketed.
I think colleges should put strings on the balls so that when they go over the fence or fouled way away, they can be pulled back and re-used. Cripes, baseball equipment a pittance compared to football. (uh-oh, here comes the crew who wants to do away with that sport!).

When Alex hit 2 hr's in the game vs. nationally ranked Uconn, you knew this kid had some potential. only batted .196 this season with 102 plate appearances but this summer is looking very encouraging

If I were Alex, I might start thinking about keeping my distance from hchoops. He seems very enamored with Alex.
On the subject of wood bats. The average decent wood bat is around $100. If you had 13-15 position players go through even 3 bats a season (which is prob very low), that's $4500/year on bats. The BBCOR bats they use in college are $200-300 a bat and multiple guys can use the same bat for an entire season.

Still, we’re talking peanuts when you add $4,500 to an athletic budget
