Requiescat in pace A fine gesture that memorial contributions go to the HC Athletic Fund

I recall reporting to Hop Riopel in the field house in Feb '64, my freshman year, for 'pitchers & catchers'. Over two or three weeks I caught Dick Joyce, Bud Knitel, Jim Bidwell, Paul Simeon, Ellie Kline, et al, all with above average to exceptional fast balls. One day Hop introduced me to Phil a high school junior at St Peter's. He had the best of the fast balls that I saw in the field house. A year later in spring I was not surprised when I read that he had struck out 21 in a 7 inning game. RIP
