Three Crusaders are playing in the Cape Cod League this Summer, all for the Falmouth Commodores. So far Pitcher Patrick McGowan started one game but lasted 2 innings while giving up 5 runs. Declan Cronin has relieved in two games and has a 0.00 ERA in his two innings. Austin Masel has gotten off to a rough start as he is 1 for 18.
On the roster I see a Peyton Glavine of Alpharetta Georgia (Atlanta suburb)--likely HOFer Tom's son.

It is common that players are cut from Cape league teams as other players (from the ncaa playoffs) are regularly appearing as teams are eliminated. Also, in simple terms, if you don't perform, they will have players find a spot in another league. Just to have a crack in this league is an accomplishment and maybe they find their way back in somehow.

Thanks, haze. I hope we hear soon that Cronin and Masel have landed in another league

just took a look at the falmouth website and Declan (although not on the roster page) has pitched twice in the last week. 5 er in 2 innings as a starter and a scoreless inning in relief. looks like some juggling of the roster but so far he's still a part of their staff.

No, Cronin has pitched 3 innings (one per game for three games), struck out 2, and gave up 0 runs. pointstreak.com/baseball/team_stats.html?teamid=3435&seasonid=31242&view=pitching (You may be confusing him with McGowan who struggled v Cape Cod level hitting in his only start giving up 5 runs in 2 innings in his only appearance). Cronin was never listed on the illustrated roster page but has been a part of the team all season. It is true that cuts are commonly made and since he is not a starter and new players continue to arrive he has to keep on doing very well. Masel has been struggling at the plate v Cape Cod level pitching (3 hits in 21 at bats).

Masel was 1/18 so it looks like he just had a good game going 2 for 3

2 weeks ago the Cape Cod Times had a short interview with HC sophomore Flaherty [not Rory]; he is with the Hyannis team as a 'general manager' intern
