Cross fan the top twenty five list was released yesterday and the Cross will play games against #7 UNH and then three other schools receiving votes Lehigh, Colgate, Dartmouth and Harvard that along with playing a much improved ACC team in BC makes for a tough but exciting schedule for the Crusaders. www.ncaa.com/rankings/football/fcs/stats-fcs-top-25

And perhaps you might give us the temperature of the folks in Durham about how they will feel about the game against Crusaders at home considering last season's results? I am planning to be there as I have traveled up there for past games and unfailingly the staff and fans have always been gracious, appreciative and welcoming despite my Crusader purple. I think this will be severely tested this season.

The good news for HC is that only two of our PL 'rivals' (Lehigh and Colgate at approx. 37 and 38 each) are even noted in the top 60 listed vote-getters so again PL looks to be a weak FCS league. There is opportunity in PL weakness. CAA has 6 teams (including UNH) in the top twenty - and UNH plays all of them. www.unhwildcats.com/schedule.aspx?path=footballThat is a pretty exciting and competitive schedule and beyond the Colorado and JMU games, things might break UNH's way. SBU just got a very nice transfer (Tyrone Wheatley, JR) from Michigan but it won't be nearly enough (IMHO) to make up for all the graduating talent.

And for those who put a lot of stock in these pre-season polls before a single game is played, please note that Central Connecticut, which has often been hooted for being on our schedule, is ranked right behind Lehigh.

The Holy Cross game was brought up in an interview that was published this past week in the Union Leader and how poorly we played in every aspect of the game that day. With that being said people up here are looking at Umaine right now and not thinking ahead to Holy Cross. The fans follow Coach Mac's lead on one game at a time and this year is a whole new season last year is the past. I will tell you that the fans base (myself included) really believes we could contend for the National Championship this year. Now for that to happen will really depend on the play of our OL. On paper this team looks good but we all know what can happen on any given Saturday. We have a very tough schedule this year as the CAA is always a battle and then you throw in two quality Patriot League Programs such as Colgate and Holy Cross who I have a feeling will be right there battling for the PL Championship at the end of the year. Oh and I can't forget the Buffalo of Colorado. I hopefully answered your question I'll look forward to seeing all of you at Wildcat Stadium I believe the first week of October. Hopefully September goes well for both programs!

Thanks for the response and I agree that last year was last year as we have seen at Holy Cross. A drubbing by Fordham at Yankee Stadium one year followed by a very nice win over the Rams the next year.
I am hopeful that the mascotless Crusaders will surprise some people this season but I suspect UNH won't be one of those teams and will be well prepared. I was just hopeful they might not be extra-motivated [and the fans will be as nice as ever - the best I have encountered in my travels to opposing venues].

I am doing photos for the Colgate at UNH, Columbia at Central Conn, among many other games. Should be a fun year in the FCS level.

Duquesne did not put up much of a fight 63 -15. Of course next week the tables will probable be flipped. Will do the best we can to soften them up for you.
