Why are we celebrating good employees who move on to other jobs, like the associate AD who's leaving for Oklahoma? Shouldn't we be mourning this? I thought the whole idea is that HC should become a destination, not a ticket to be punched while people move on to something bigger!

From afar, it seems like we are using a different model under Pine than we did under Regan. Seems like we have a lot more people in the athletic dept, presumably at lower salaries, who are young and aggressive and looking to move on to bigger and better things after a stop at HC. Pine wants to highlight these movements to help him continue to attract young, upwardly mobile talent to HC even if only for a few years. I’m not sure if it’s better or worse for HC but it’s the model we’re using.

Not necessarily to get upwardly mobile talent and to benefit from them for a time (at a low cost). Isn't hat what some folks say e should do with coaches - young coaches who are moving up?

Announce it, but how about not keeping it the lead story on the web site. Big staff, lots of other things to write about I would hope

Under the previous DR regime, it was very unusual to have personnel moving on to 'power' conference jobs (maybe 'never') - we were that far down the 'reputation' ladder in the industry. I find this trend to be a positive - more qualified candidates will look to work for HC when they see the upward mobility in the business coming out of Worcester.

Didn’t we used to note with pride when Ralph’s assistant coaches made career moves? Shouldn’t it be the same dynamic in the athletic department?

The press release is an opportunity for Pine to get a nice quote in about the former staffer who has moved onto a better role elsewhere.
It is pretty ridiculous that it has been the lead story on the homepage since the 17th. Football begins soon, ya know.

I think it is unfair and maybe unrealistic to expect any !AA school to be a destination. The financial discrepancy is just too great. Andrew Breiner of Fordham did a mediocre-at-best job as a head coach. I actually heard he totally lost the team and assistant staff. He went from head coach of a DI school to Quarterbacks coach at another D1 school (SEC) and got a $100,000 raise.
Similar money across all power 5 schools. That does not diminish HC, a fantastic place. Look at Harvard, Yale, Columbia - certainly other fantastic places - who lost a significant number of their football assistants last year.
The new world order.
