Source of financial aid for recruited players irrelevant. It all counts. This rule does not apply to unrecruited players. I remember when I was on selection committees for end of the year high school financial awards, we were told that any money given to a scholarship athlete would count against their scholarship. The net was that they did not benefit because an amount equal the scholarship was deducted from their financial aid. Exactly. One of ours was awarded a Presidents merit Scholarship. He was a partial. So award added to his aid under PL rules. Nice for him but created a bind for coaches for the next year's recruit class. Under NCAA rules need aid to unrecruited players does not count vs schollie caps. Apparently PL now follows this rule having repealed its caps on WO aid.

Grant would be a huge "get" for HC! He set the BC season record for sacks last year (11.5) and is really hard to block. It would be nice to see HC start to draw from BC as it once did. This is a high school team filled with D1 talent. It is early, but I am surprised he has not had higher level offers. If is senior year is what the coaches expect, he will see them soon.

To see Grant's BC team in last season's NJ state semi-finals, go to jerseysportszone.com (look for Bergen Catholic 35 / Don Bosco 17). It shows a sweet interception by Grant (as well as a 78 yard TD off a fake punt). The game was played on Oct 27, 2018.

I like tall receivers. They are hard to cover and create a big target . . . . . everything else being equal.
