That does seem a bit confusing., since it could have so many meanings.

Any word on the new oc yet? I keep feeling I missed something.

My guess is it's an opportunity to be on the roster. No way to tell, but that's my guess. Meaning walk-on.

No word on OC yet. I believe it will be this week. Only based on timing, finishing out the class, getting ready for winter workouts after signing period of 2/5.

That’s almost definitely code for no scholarship on this context. QBs are often the best athletes on their high school team so recruiting a few a trying to find spots where they can help is never a bad idea, particularly if they don’t eat up scholarship dollars.

In the article, Isiah Gash is listed as 5'9" and 165, that would be small for a Div I RB. Brah, that's the same size as Dom Cozier

It now appears that Hatton's tweet about the opportunity to play football at Holy Cross has been deleted.

Georgetown with three impressive recruits today. They had good class last year too. Maybe they’ve figured out how to use the Ivy model. DFW Hoya will know.

Two UMass verbal commits (Lawrence Academy QB Brady Martin and BB&N OL Andrew Nee) decommitted last night within hours of one another. Both are ⭐️⭐️⭐️ recruits. This is a big loss for the Minutemen and a rather ominous sign for that program. Something must be afoot there. Either of them would be a huge get for the Crusaders.

If my memory is correct, Martin committed verbally to UMass very early during the 2019-2020 recruiting cycle. This may have led to only a small number of official offers. Also, Lawrence Academy only had 27 kids on their roster this year, leading them to forfeit their last game. Given that AJ Dillon went to Lawrence Academy, that was quite surprising.

I have been to multiple high school games in CT where at least one of the teams has 4-6 kids on the bench with 11 on the field. My son’s Catholic high school probably has 10-12 on the bench but that’s dressing every kid in the program in all grades.

A dying sport ? Or is participation low overall or is it low enrollment ?

A dying sport ? Or is participation low overall or is it low enrollment ? Definitely seeing a drastic reduction in participation at the youth levels. I’m 53 and when I played Pop Warner football in my hometown I recall that we had about 80 kids tryout for the lowest level team beginning at age 8. Even though my hometown had 2 full teams for each age group, they still had to “cut” many kids because of the overwhelming number of participants. Those days are over. Now, most towns barely have enough kids to field a team of 16 kids (the min. number required to avoid a forfeit) and many towns have had to merge into one combined program just to have enough participants in the pipeline. CTE fears are real and this decrease in numbers at the youth level eventually migrates to the high school level.

A dying sport ? Or is participation low overall or is it low enrollment ? Very few kids play youth football anymore. All the high schools around me beg any kid in school with a pulse to play high school football. The quality of play is terrible for the most part. The Fairfield County schools and a few others do okay but it’s definitely on life support at many schools.
